FINDING PEACE (2019) - POST-PRODUCTION

today I’m going to show you a video and some photos going through the post-production of finding peace back in March 2019

this here is one of the highlights of my entire five years at Farnham Film School editing film stock manually on a Steinbeck cutting machine has been one of the greatest pleasures of my life and really reinvigorated my sense of passion in film, it’s such a different feeling to things like avid or premiere actually seeing the physical film be cut with scissors and tape back together and then placing it under the machine shining a light and reflecting it on the screen you really feel like you’re putting the film together like it’s a puzzle, Kamen and I spent many many hours (probably more than he would’ve liked) in this tiny little room putting the film together, many a discussion on what the right thing to do would be in the cut sometimes he would concede sometimes I would, but it was such tangible energy knowing everything in front of us was absolutely real and the source how they did it for nearly 100 years it’s Incredible stuff and an experience I really cherish

Also pictured is Uvis while he was sound mixing the film from scratch as we recorded zero audio at all, here he was recording some new Foley and mixing some pre-sourced sounds, he did a fantastic job

tomorrow I will show off some stills from the final film, it’s been a pleasure to go through it

And that’s an official wrap on DAY ONE of our Documentary “A Heavy Metal Life”

we’ve been working on this since November of 2019, it was our last project developed before the Covid pandemic hit so it only makes sense that it was the first one we shot after getting vaccinated in 2021

this piece, initially developed as second year Farnham Film School coursework, and then as a graduation film, now being produced completely independently postgrad has been going better than I ever could have imagined

Today we shot Heavy Metal Pete ‘s Covent performance and his preparation for doing his act,

I sure got my cardio working, never having to get as many release forms signed in my life, that’s a new experience for me and it was a very exciting and nerve wracking one!

Working with an incredible crew with an incredible energy making some incredible results, this is actually going to be stellar and I can’t wait to get back to it tomorrow!

RHONDA - The Birth of a Queen (2018) Shots & Frames 🎥
Director, Producer, Concept, Actor

Cinematography by Meg In Motion Pictures, Produced while studying at Farnham Film School

here are some of the many shots from RHONDA - The Birth of a Queen, A comedy Mocumentary We made about 2-3 years ago now

what I really love about these frames is how they bring out the absolute spontaneity of the piece and the madness of that period of our creative filmmaking lives

it’s very silly but it’s very fun and as a social phonic experiment I had such a blast and learn so much

The biggest of thank you to everybody whom collaborated and helped us with this at-the-time huge and ambitious project

After almost 5 Years of Consistent Weekly Content, Today is the Day I Announce That I'm Cancelling Production on "Logan's First Thoughts" As an Ongoing series,

The Backlog of what I had hoped to cover built up far too much and by the time I saw the new TentPole releases such as TENET & New Mutants I no longer felt this Innate Need to record my thoughts on them like I once would have, The Series has taken significant time to Save, Record, Edit and Upload that I Believe going forward could be put to much better use

I'm Going into my Final Year of Farnham Film School and I need all the time I can get to dedicate to my Graduation films to be the best they can be, and while i'll still be trying to see new movies weekly Because I Love Movies, I'll be keeping my engagement of my thoughts on those brief and text-based on my Personal Account Goin Foward

I debated Finishing up this year (Only Having 4 months left and then it could have been a clean 4 years of reviews instead of cutting off late summer) but I couldn't dedicate time and strength to them full-heartedly and I don't think people deserved half-Efforted content from me, there was no viable reason to do it

The Ratings had been dropping to an Embarrassing Number for almost a year now and the Plug had to be pulled at some point but I promise you it's all for the best, for my mental health and for my other works,

Don't worry though because You'll still be able to hear me talk about Movies on The Broken Record Podcast when Season 4 Gears up in the coming months

For those who've been there since Day 1 with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows (Or Day 0 with Wreck-It Ralph)
Thank you.

Chek Lap Kok (Hong Kong Airport) 21.00 01.12.19 - Screenworks

An alternative walk to the terminal is a chance to think about air-travel in these changing times. A short video by year 1 coordinator, Stephen Connolly which documents a walk to Hong Kong Airport from the Expo centre on the airport island, by means of slow travel, under makeshift conditions, and without carbon expenditure. The video offers a brief exploration of the materialities and grounded infrastructures of aviation at a moment of pandemic-led change and invites us to look anew at the familiar and banal physical geography of the airport and how we move within it, drawing on Lefebvre’s Production of Space and theories of ‘Spatial Cinema’.

Make a movie with Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald | Film your day July 25

Take part in an inspirational project taking place on Saturday 25th July!

Life in a Day 2020 is a global experiment to capture a single day on earth: a documentary shot by thousands of people around the globe. It’s the sequel to the original Life in a Day, which was filmed in 2010 and has gone on to inspire millions of people. Ten years later, we have the opportunity to capture the world at this extraordinary time, and make a record of our lives right now.

Take part and tell a story about your life and world. The brief is simply: on July 25th, film a day in your life, or that of a subject you find interesting. It could be a typical day, or one in which something special is happening. They’re looking for raw footage, not a finished film.

All participants who have their footage used in the finished documentary will be credited as a co-director. The film will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and to a global audience on YouTube.
