Would you know what to do if your under 1 year old were to choke?

*Support the infant in a head- downwards position and support their head
*Deliver up to 5 sharp back blows with the heel of one hand in the middle of the back between the shoulder blades
*The aim is to relieve the obstruction with each blow rather than give all 5
*If the back blows haven’t been effective, turn them onto their back so they are facing up
*Identify the landmark for chest compressions which is the centre of their chest on the lower part of their sternum
*Deliver up to 5 chest thrusts
*Repeat the sequence until the obstruction is relieved or they become unconscious
*If they become unconscious CPR must be started immediately

A year ago today I started out on a new and exciting journey to become a first aid trainer and assessor. It’s been hard work but I’ve loved every second. I can’t wait to extend my services in 2 months time and start teaching Safeguarding too.

WE HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS

After new year we will be offering accredited Level 3 Award in Principles of Safeguarding and Protecting Children, Young People or Vulnerable Adults. This course will be suitable for schools, nurseries, children's services, childminders, colleges, health care professions, etc.

We will still be running accredited first aid courses for most work places including schools, nurseries, childcare workers, tradesmen and women, dentists, sports facilities, PT's, pubs, offices and many many more.

Not only this but we also run parent and carer first aid courses.

We run accredited first aid courses for most work places. Some of these include childcare settings, activity workshops, sports centres including personal trainers, care homes, tradesmen and women, office workers, etc.

We also run non accredited courses for parents and carers or anyone who wants to know what to do in an emergency situation.

A new course we've added is mini medics, aimed at children between 8-12 years but can be adapted to suit the appropriate age range.

Do you need to update your first aid? We offer accredited courses for many different work places including offices, care homes, childcarers, sports centres, tradesmen and women, etc. We can provide courses on a 121 basis or in groups. Our prices are very competitive.

We also run non accredited courses. These are parent courses and mini medics aimed at 8-12 year olds (can be adapted to suit different ages). We have just started to offer non accredited hour lessons in the work place for large groups, this is done as circuit scenarios.

We have got 2 dates booked in for a 1 day accredited emergency at work first aid course. Cost is £55 per person, certificates and booklets are included in the price, certificate lasts 3 years. This course is suitable for office workers, tradesmen/ women, etc. Venue is in Potters Bar. Refreshments are included (not lunch)

Dates are: Tuesday 2nd May 9:30AM- 4:30PM

Knowing the difference between choking and gagging is life saving.

Such a beautiful location to teach a first aid course. We don't just teach paediatrics, we also teach first aid in the work place, oxygen therapy, management of anaphylaxis and activity first aid. Our most recent course was held at the beautiful Chelwood Equestrian Centre in Sussex. We cover most of South East England but are based in North London. All our courses are accredited.

We still have a few spaces left on our parent course on Tuesday 21st March 9.30am-12.30pm at Fields Cafe. For just £25 you will learn how to deal with choking, CPR, seizures, recovery position and more. Children are also welcome to come and will have a toy area set up. We also have first aid boxes to purchase for £15. If you can't make this date and would like a private course from your home please feel free to book in a date.

I also run accredited courses for childcarers, office workers, building trade, etc. All the accredited courses come with a certificate awarded by the FAA.

Did you know that every 7 minutes someone in the UK has a heart attack. If this were to happen to someone you know would you be able to help them? We can give you the knowledge and techniques to help you deal with anything should the worst happen.

1,000 lives a year could be saved if more people attempted first aid Just four out of ten members of the public are prepared to attempt to keep someone alive undergoing a cardiac arrest using first aid. But if they did 1,000 lives could be saved yearly.

I offer 1 to 1's on all first aid courses. I also provide group courses from your home or work place if the open course at my venue doesn't work for you.

I'm Hannah, the owner of Little Wings. I originally started my venture as a childcare agency but have since added several services including crèches for events and photo booth hire. I've recently qualified as an accredited first aid trainer and assessor. I've been in childcare for 11 years and I'm a mother to my 5 year old son so I naturally fell into paediatric first aid. I'm considering adding mini medics to my first aid courses. These will be aimed at children between 8-12 years of age. The course will be kept at a basic level with no confusing terminologies and will instil the importance of helping someone who is poorly or injured.

Teaching in schools, sports clubs, organisations such as Cubs and Brownies.

Im also considering doing family first aid course for the whole family to come along to.
