Coco powder mixed with a little water makes the best piggy mud bath, also great to mark-make with our tractors. We love being on the farm.

Tip ⭐️ Iced Bowls: Simply fill a balloon full with water (add food colourings or glitter, if you wish) leave in freezer over night. Once frozen peel off the balloon. Perfect activity to have fun with, the bowls slip around on different surfaces. For older toddlers, try chipping away at the bowls with a lolly stick. Have a lovely day 💙

Today I went back to where I studied for 4 years with little Reuben my heart feels warm.

Down at the farm yesterday. We had a great time, lots of reaching and doing sitting independently. 🎨 Groups are small so we are able to have the space for movement. We have familiar faces each week for our lovely babies to recognise and also ourselves to build friendships.

🎨Sensory play has lots of scientific evidence to help your babies development, and also starts the journey of calmness which aids contentment from an early age.

🎨 The leader ‘Melissa’ holds a BA hons in Visual Studies and holds Foundation Certificate in Art Therapy so plenty of knowledge, guidance and support to help you explore creative and visual play at home if you wish.

🎨Stations are designed to support each millstone, Sensory Patches to encourage tummy time, rolling, and crawling. Mixing stations, for reaching and small tables for pulling up and cruising.

We had a lovely morning exploring ice age animals with a few chilly sensory tools to explore. Ice lolly sticks are great to make up, add a few drops of food colouring to your lolly mould and freeze. Great for mark making those icebergs ❄️

Have you ever wondered why a baby spends longer exploring simple objects around the house, like boxes, cardboard, packets and stuff that’s cheap rather than your expensive toys. A baby is exploring through their own choice, independence and senses. The cause and effects they can can create with these basic objects keeps them entertained for much longer. So use this to create more of a sensory environment at home it doesn’t have to be expensive. An idea we explore in sessions is a sensory patch, you could try something like this at home.

Why not try putting wrapping paper on the floor as a base for sensory play. Looks more appealing I believe and gives another sensory element to the play. What do you think 🤔

When exploring new objects why not add a new dimension - Torches and light shape filters are a great way to explore outside the box.

Remember creative play doesn’t have to be too messy! These little pods (paddling pools) are great to contain play. Explore what you could put inside them.

So much fun at our carnival theme today. Reuben loved the bubbles hitting the foil floor patch and making a sound. If you got any good pictures from this morning’s class I’d love to see them. Mel and Roo ❤️

So much fun this morning. We had a little farm theme in the corner. We used custard with added green food colouring; we used it mark make some grass for the animals to graze on. We used coco powder with a little water mixed in for the pigs to have some fun in the mud. Keep those old toys for themed creative play.

There are so so many benefits to creative/messy play, way too many to mention…..
