Has the situation of the last 2 years subtly - or otherwise - impacted your sleep? Would you like to learn ways through undercurrents of anxiety, sleep more soundly and face your days refreshed? This course takes you on a journey, step by step, to build your resilience and find your own path to better sleep and rest.
To ease Zoom fatigue, the group for this course will be very small (max 5-6) and the main part of each week is on practical learning of yoga practices. We include some background information and ideas as well, so that by the end, you have both an understanding and a toolkit that you have already started to use in your life.
Come join us and learn to nourish yourself with better sleep 😴

We have spaces in our Yoga with Babies (for over five months) which runs on Tuesdays at 11am. We are lovely and welcoming, and our sessions include tea and biscuits. Andrea, our fab facilitator, has worked with parents and babies for many years. You tell she loves her work from the pic below 😍
£55 for a six week block, but we have concessions too, so please do ask if this would help you attend.

Dear All, at this time, which for many means special times with family & friends, as well as warmth, nourishment & perhaps some sparkle, I hope you’ve been able to be with some of the people in your lives & sending love to you all especially those more on your own.
I’d like to share with you a delightful video made by my longstanding yoga student, Jenny Newland. It includes Tree Pose, which we do in various forms, including fir tree at this time of year; & also features another seasonal favourite, Skating Minister Pose, inspired by the painting in the National Gallery of Scotland.
I hope it may bring a smile & some sparkle to you as it did to me.😊❤️💕

Bhamari/Bee Breath for stress relief - video from today's Facebook Live session 🙏

Interesting post about Bhramari, the bee breath, for our current times from Heather Mason of The Minded Institute; & I happen to be including it in all my classes this week. 😊It almost always features in my Yoga with Babies classes as it’s very centring & calming for babies to be around as well as for those humming.
Join me on my Slow Yoga Edinburgh page for a Facebook live session on Bee Breath tomorrow, Wednesday 29th at 1pm, where I’ll be saying a bit about this breathing practice & how to do it before we practise it for 3-4 minutes to benefit from its effects; & you can ask questions before or after it or in the comments section below.
Hope to see some of you tomorrow ☺️🙏
One of our students, who is also a GP, shared some really interesting information about breathing that may or may not be useful in staving off Covid-19 and or other respiratory infections.
Someone will need to test it; So here's concept... Nitric Oxide (a gas, that primarily acts as a vasodilator) also acts as an antiviral. We have an abundance of Nitric Oxide (NO) in our sinus cavities, and also nasal region. This helps to neutralize pathogens, which makes a nice case for nostril breathing... but there is more...
Apparently, research has found that levels of NO markedly increase in the sinus cavity when we exhale with a humming sound. As bhramari, the humming bee breath is also beneficial in reducing anxiety (especially when performed at a lower tone) as it elongates the exhalation....it seems a good idea to practice.
It is unclear if doing this breath would offer protection from Covid-19, but the technique is useful nonetheless, so there is no harm in integrating it into your yoga practice.
Pass on this useful theory and maybe someone will research its value!

Harvard Medical School has “recommended yoga, meditation and controlled breathing to deal with COVID-19 anxiety.” I haven’t posted here for a while, as I’ve been getting classes for all my regular students online; but perhaps you are now attending an online class, whether one of mine or another? If not, do check out what’s around & I’ll aim to post complementary resources here as well. Wishing you the strength, steadiness & flexibility of Yoga❤️🙏

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. We are so grateful to every one of you who contributed to our Crowdfunder for the move to our new premises.
YOU helped us to reach a whopping £26,750!
YOU helped to pay for the renovations on our new home; the place where many families will benefit from respectful and non-judgemental support and information, and build community and friendships for years to come.
If you would still like to donate, simply send an email to [email protected] and we'll get you sorted :)
THANK YOU

Anyone out there who had pioneering Yoga support during pregnancy & beyond from Nadine Edwards, the Birth Centre, the BRC (Birth Resource Centre) or what has developed from all this, the PPC (Pregnancy and Parents Centre)?
With very grateful thanks to all who have supported us in whatever ways, whether in the past or more recently, we’re now reaching out to our wider fan base, knowing you have really appreciated our Yoga support & other work with families & would like to see it continue & grow from strength to strength.
***Please could we ask you to share this post or its information as widely as you can to let our fans know the PPC is at a challenging transition point & we need help with this?***
There is a lovely wee video about the work of the PPC on our crowdfunder page which I hope you’ll enjoy watching & sharing.
In case you don’t know our current situation: we need to move because of development of the property that’s been our home these last years. We have found new premises (on the Pleasance) but we need to do some basic work to be able to move in & continue our classes before the bulldozers move in to Lower Gilmore Place!
We are asking for help in practical ways & also have a crowdfunder going to help us cover the costs of some building work, heating, lighting, plumbing & decorating. We’re very grateful to all who have helped us reach £21,054; & with just 7 days to go, we need to raise a further £8,946.
I often meet parents who are enthusiastic about the PPC & what it has been for them & their families & am reaching out now to those who may not know about our situation but would be happy to help.
*Please, please* spread the word about the last days of our crowdfunder & together we’ll take the PPC forward. Thanks so much for this & all your other support. ❤️☺️🙏❤️
