To one and all,

As you may be aware the current global pandemic has forced changes to many organisations and schedules and we are no exception. Due to the University of Edinburgh closing its doors, and in line with best practice in such times, we have taken the unfortunate decision to cancel all events for the remainder of this semester. While we here in the Research Group know this may be disappointing to many of you we hope you will bear with us through this troubling time and, hopefully, we will be able to put on some stellar events in the autumn when the situation improves. Please continue to watch this space for any new updates and information and we hope to see you all on the other side of this madness.

All the best and stay safe out there,
The Edinburgh Europa Research Group Committee

To all who are intersted... The Chair of European Union Law has passed on to the committee the following information which may very much be of interest to some of you. Specifically... there is the possibility of a traineeship at the Court of Justice of the European Union:

"An unpaid traineeship of approximately 2 months will be available in the Chambers of Judge Christopher Vajda at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg from 19th November 2019 or at the earliest convenience of the successful applicant to 31 January 2020.

This is an opportunity to engage with EU law at the highest level and gain important experience of how it works in practice. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of European Union law, have a reasonable command of French – the CJEU’s working language – and, by the time they take up a traineeship, either hold a law degree (preferably 2:1 or above) or have successfully completed a law conversion course. Applications, consisting of a brief CV and a cover letter indicating why you would like to undertake a traineeship and future career plans, should be sent by email [email protected] and [email protected] as soon as possible, and, at the latest by 13thNovember 2019. Applicants are asked to state on what date they would be able to start the traineeship."
