Dear Parents/Carers,
This week, Monday 16th - Friday 20th October, is Cancer Awareness Week. This week, our school is raising money for Cancer Focus NI, meaning all money collected goes directly towards cancer research here in Northern Ireland.
To help us raise as much money as possible, we kindly ask you to encourage your son/daughter to bring in any spare change for our raffles, treat sales, pen/badge sales etc.
As well as these fun activities, we are hosting our 'FRIDAYS WE WEAR PINK!' day on Fri 20th October where we encourage every student to wear something pink and bring in £1. The pink is in addition to the uniform and is NOT A NON-UNIFORM DAY. The form class with the highest donation from this day wins a cake to be shared in PD the following week.
We are very appreciative of any support you can provide.
Many thanks,

Dr Kevin McConville old Lismore pupil and now
Clinical Senior Lecturer

At Dundee University.
Kevin met his school ambition to become a doctor and was a GP for many years.
Take a close look there are two Lurganites in the photo.
Does anyone recognise Dame Joycelyn Bell Burnell ?
Dame Joycelyn Bell Burnell is a lurgan woman who was instrumental in work that led to a Nobel prize for a colleague. Many in academia feel that she should also have received a Nobel prize.
Dame Joycelyn Bell Burnell famously never passed the eleven plus.
All in Kevin’s year in Lismore knew that he was a very clever lad, and also a compete gent.
We in your year were all very proud of you Kevin when you became a doctor.
Many will remember you for helping others with their school work in class, so it is fitting that you are now passing on knowledge at the highest level possible. You deserve to be in such esteemed company with a fellow lurganite at the very top. A credit to the old school Lismore
Hats off to you.
