It was a pleasure to welcome Sir Keir Starmer, Leader of the Labour Party (UK), to visit us at the University of Warwick last Friday, where he met our researchers, technicians, and students.

He was joined by UK Labour mayors and mayoral candidates, including Richard Parker (West Midlands), Andy Burnham (Greater Manchester), and Claire Ward (East Midlands).

Keir also met with the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stuart Croft, and the Dean of WMG, Professor Robin Clark, and had an opportunity to see innovative projects such as Warwick Racing, Warwick Moto and the Driving the Electric Revolution programme for novel electric motors for use in electric transport. ✨ What a day! ✨ We had the best time yesterday at the Winter Graduations, celebrating with our newest WMG graduates. Congratulations! We wish you all the best for the future and welcome you to our global, alumni community 🎓🌎

Congratulations to two of our MSc Innovation and Entrepreneurship graduates who joined Warwick Enterprise's Start-Up Scheme in October with their business, Home Fresh. 👏

Yuchi (Bob) Ma and Dongrui (Ray) Xie, CEO and COO, have big plans for Home Fresh, and we're excited to see how their business progresses.

We are pleased to introduce 优鲜到家-Home Fresh, onboarded in October of this year as part of our Start-Up Scheme, the Asian fresh food ingredients shopping platform that promises to make your life easier by delivering fresh meat, seafood, and vegetables to your door, fruits and Asian groceries from local suppliers.

We talked with Yuchi (Bob) Ma and Dongrui (Ray) Xie, CEO and COO of Home Fresh, both graduates of MSc Innovation and Entrepreneurship at WMG MSc at the University of Warwick, to know more about this business and the app, which currently has more than 1,000 active users.

“We know there is a demand for fresh food ingredients and groceries in the Asian community of the UK, and we want to bring more convenience to the customers” (Yuchi Ma). “We want to make the customers feel that cooking is easier than expected, and we aim to let the customers get the taste of home even overseas” (Dongrui Xie).

Bob and Ray have big plans for Home Fresh, "We will launch our platform in other cities soon, and we are expanding to Birmingham now. We aim to expand in additional cities around the UK and beyond Asian communities."

Their recommendation for students with business ideas is the following: “Don't be afraid of anything and focus on your business idea and improve it during the progress of your activities.
Warwick Enterprise is a great support for students in many areas; all the team members are very helpful, no matter how developed your initial idea is. They will advise you with practical suggestions on how to speed up your business project. In our case, this was also aligned with our previous studies at WMG, which was very beneficial for us.”

Students can now collaborate with industrial partners on a company-based dissertation, to help shape the future of the business.
