NEW ASOC EXEC POSITION: Talks Coordinator
Missed out on an Exec position? Think you have what it takes to run Warwick’s largest cultural society? Then this is the opportunity for you!

The role will essentially require you to organise influential speakers to come to the University to speak about and raise awareness about any contemporary issues affecting Asian communities. This includes issues such as the Sri Lankan Killing Fields, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Syrian uprising, honour killings and other relevant issues.

We hope this position will help diversify ASOC’s role and broaden its reach.
We, the new Exec, are looking for someone who is passionate, enthusiastic, committed and able to manage and organise their time effectively.
While the unique role for this position will be organising these talks/debates, you will also be required to work alongside others in the Events and Publicity departments.

The WARWICK INDIA FORUM is taking place on campus on 3rd & 4th March. We have been asked to choose 2 representatives from ASOC (your name will be recorded and this would be an interesting point for your CV!) who will have the chance to talk and debate on issues including:

- How would India's possible status as a permanent member of the UN Security Council affect security concerns and conflicts in the sub-continent?

- Is the East becoming Westernized? How does or will Westernization affect the cultures and societies of the sub-continent?

If you’re interested, please let us know by sending a Facebook message to our Treasurer Sheel Shah (http://www.facebook.com/sheel31). It is a great opportunity to represent the society, and Warwick's Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and other societies will also be taking part. The event is totally free, and recognition of attendance (as well as refreshments!) will also be provided.

A team from Ernst & Young will be running the session to share some tips and answer any questions you may have about assessment centres at accountancy firms or banks and about working in a professional services firm.

Just to let you know once again ASOC are taking part in the OWW Sporting Tournaments!!

This week we have entered Warwick Asian Society in:

- FIFA 12 tournament (unlimited!) - SUHQ Meetings Room (Friday 20th Jan), Finals in the Atrium (Friday 27th Jan)...Time TBC...THIS IS TOMORROW SO LET US KNOW ASAP

- Table Tennis (3-a-side) - Sports Centre Activity Room (Monday 23rd Jan, 1pm-4pm)

We'd just like to say a huge thank you for such an amazing term and we hope that all you guys had as much fun as we did. We are very grateful for everyone who supported us at our events and be sure to watch out for a BIGGER, BETTER, more EXCITING Term 2! Essentially, as first year rep you will be the first point of contact for the exec team within your year group and will be representing the society.
