Just about slipped this dive in-between weather disruptions on Channel Diver. And Congratulations to Laura and Des for completing their Advanced Nitrox 45m too. Water temp 16.1C.
The Nyon ran aground off St Abb's Head in Berwickshire in 1958, as this picture in the video shows. The stern section was saved, and the Nyon was rebuilt. In 1962 she sank of Beachy Head following a collision.
A Swiss ship of 5,364 tons, on it's way from Antwerp to Montreal, sank on 15th June 1962. After a collision with the Indian ship Jalazad. She was carrying a cargo of cars and 7,000 tons of steel. Her bridge is the highest point sitting 14m from the sea bed and lies East to West with the bow to the West 10m proud of the bottom sitting in 45m.
Bows at 10m high sits to the west and well broken up, the bridge stands 14m high, watch out for trawl nets. There is plenty of marine life from Lobsters, Crabs, Scallops and John Dory.

Diving The HMS Moldavia, built for P&O by Caird & Co., Greenock, and launched on 28 March 1903. The Moldavia had been struck on the port side, just below the bridge, by a torpedo fired by UB 57 of the Flanders Flotilla. Over fifty men from B company who were sleeping in the compartment where the explosion took place were killed instantly. She now sits in a depth of 50m on her port side, 30 nautical miles from Brighton.
