Applications are now open for the government-funded MA Early Years Education with Early Years Teacher Status at the University of Sussex. This prestigious one-year Masters course will enable you to become a reflective and confident Early Years teacher, capable of leading Early Years practice in your school or nursery. Fire Safety - Early Years

This course is run by West Sussex Fire Service

This three hour course is for all Fire Wardens and Fire Marshals within Early Years.

It will introduce you to basic fire safety training in the workplace and provide you with the opportunity to use portable fire fighting equipment.

An outside demonstration of this equipment will be undertaken, providing there are suitable local facilities.
• The aim of this course is to provide you with a greater awareness of fire safety provisions and your additional responsibilities before and in the event of a fire.

Makaton is a language that uses symbols, signs and speech to enables people to communicate. It supports verbal communication alongside spoken language to develop verbal communication. Makaton is suitable at any level appropriate to the individual’s needs. It is suitable for teaching and support staff.

We offer two courses, which form part of the certified Foundation level. They can be taken separately. Each combines a practical approach with theory and technical information. Level 1 also offers an experiential introduction to communication disability. Each level comes with a high quality guide which supports Makaton use after the course. Both levels are online, running 9:30am to 4:30pm for £84 per person, per level. We also have a face to face course in autumn and online dates in spring available, please email for details.

This Paediatric First Aid Blended course is 12 hours of study, combining 6 hours of online study followed by a 6 hour face-to-face training course. It is suitable for those working in an Early Years provision and anybody working with children from birth to 8 years and is fully compliant with OFSTED. The certificate is valid for 3 years.
