Olivia has recently bounced back from a lengthy injury, and she has never wavered in her dedication or missed a session; her commitment to training has been unwavering. This marks her first month back to full training, and she has truly put in her best effort. In fact, her teachers are noticing her progress, which is fantastic. Our Story
The Valentine Theatre School is a part time Stage School based at John Henry Newman Catholic College in Chelmsley Wood, North Solihull. It is a small select school that gives individual attention to all students. Valentine is the only school in the region that has provided pupils to the top West End Musicals as well as the BBC, ITV, Sky, Films & Classical Ballets with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
We offer professional tuition in Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, Musical Theatre, Body Conditioning, Acrobatics, Freestyle & Zumba.
It was established by Claire Chandler in 1995, who wanted to share her professional experience & knowledge with her students.
The Valentine Theatre School has a reputation for professionalism & excellence. Many students have appeared in professional musicals, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins, Billy Elliot & Oliver to name just a few, Ballets, Films & Concerts. Students have also won scholarships for Urdang Academy, Elmhurst School for Dance, Northern Ballet School, Millenium Performing Arts, The Hammond School, Sylvia Youngs and the American Academy of Ballet in New York.
Pupils have won the following championships: National Junior Tap Champion 2007, West Midlands Senior Modern Champion 2002, West Midlands Junior Modern Champion 2008 and West Midlands Modern Championship Bronze Medallist 2007.
The school has won many awards in Festivals at National Level; Best School, Teachers Award, Most Promising Dancer, Best Personality, Boys Award, Best Costume, to name but a few.
Pupils study for examinations with the NATD (National Association of Teachers of Dancing) & the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association). The school has 100% pass rate at A - C level.
The school offers extra ballet lessons with top IDTA Examiner Brenda Yeates.
The school offers private lessons to gifted students who perhaps want to make dance a career. These students are entered into local & national competitions.
All students have the opportunity to appear in troupes for competitions and shows.
The main aim of the school is to build confidence in a happy environment.
