2022 was our year!!!
This page will be used to communicate any news or progress made on obtaining our Pelican Crossing!
I started a petition (https://www.change.org/PCCForRavenscote) in September 2018 to get a safe crossing installed for the children of Ravenscote, also serving Tomlinscote and St Augustine's. Since then the campaign has really gathered momentum with local/BBC radio stations, newspapers and internet tv channels getting involved, I've even broken the county lines and appeared in a Hertfordshire newsp

What more can I say, apart from “job done” 👍🏼
I’ve been down to the Pelican Crossing and it’s all working wonderfully, just a little bit of tarmac to be finished by the looks of it…
THANK YOU to all who supported my campaign, with special thanks to Edward Hawkins for pushing it along and putting up with my many emails and to my friend Fay Pasley for her design work on the posters 🥰
I appreciate all of you for signing the petition and encouraging me along the way, power to the people!!!💪🏼💜

Shocking behaviour 😰
At about 3.30pm on Monday 10th October, the driver of a van branded with the logo and colours of Affinity Water became frustrated while children crossed outside Ravenscote School on Upper Chobham Road. The driver repeatedly honked their horn while queuing behind other cars, before pulling out into the opposing lane, overtaking the queuing traffic, and cutting back into the correct lane while speeding across the raised road cushion outside the school, narrowly missing several pupils.
In all my years taking two children to Ravenscote School, I have never witnessed such dangerous or irresponsible driving.
My son and I were both eyewitnesses but, due to the speed of the vehicle, couldn’t note the number plate.
If anyone else witnessed this incident, if you have dashcam footage, or if you were able to capture the Affinity Water van’s number plate, please do get in touch. A second Affinity Water van queued patiently (and shouldn’t be mistaken for the offending vehicle/driver) - but this driver will be a crucial witness to his colleague’s dangerous driving.
I have reported this incident to Affinity Water via their media team. You may wish to do the same: [email protected]

4 year anniversary today since I created this page…and we’re just over 2 weeks away from the work starting to install the Pelican Crossing outside Ravenscote, so excited!!!!😆
A little more publicity support for the crossing. I heard it was chaotic on the school run yesterday, hopefully the PCC page will get out to the new parents and they’ll know the chaos is coming to an end!💪🏼🙌🏼💜
Update as promised 💜

I have a little update for you on the status of our crossing...it's been held up due to an approval needed from the Department for Transport around using the raised table as a crossing. This special authorisation has now been granted and the design team are meeting with the contractor today (12JUL22) so they can plan the resources and traffic management arrangements. The next step in the process, will be the public notice.
We still don't have a date for works to commence, but, the hope is it'll happen at the backend of the summer holidays and be ready for September. I will update again when I receive a confirmed date...🤞🏼🤞🏿🤞💜
Can’t wait to see the ball in motion…💜
Tune in to the breakfast show on BBC Radio Surrey, on 104/104.6FM tomorrow @ 7:30 😎
I can’t quite believe it but tonight I’m declaring VICTORY!!!!!
Nearly four years since I started this campaign and the council have tonight voted for the pelican crossing and the funding is in place!
Thank you to all of you for your support and I will post pics of the crossing when it’s installed. So HAPPY right now, it won’t be for my kids as my youngest will be leaving this Summer but the impact it’ll have for all the future children is fantastic # # #
Evening all, I haven’t updated you for a while so thought I’d let you know that this Thursday @ 6:30pm, I’m attending the Surrey Heath LAC meeting at the council offices where they will discuss the detailed report from Surrey Highways regarding the installation of a pelican crossing outside Ravenscote.
I am hoping with all I have that we will be granted final agreement from the board and the works will goahead, I will update you on here afterwards but if you’d like to support, then you can also watch or attend and listen in person. I think it is live streamed via their website and/or page.
🤞🏼💪🏼💜💟
This has got to be good news for us, surely…

Oh my word 😢 thank god the girl from our own community has pulled through her ordeal and is making progress, it could’ve been so different 😢🙏🏼
This is a very moving poem by Kerry Wilton, mother of Ellie who was killed in a road collision aged just 11. She describes it as being written in the sheer frustration of seeing bad driving and risks taken on the roads, having experienced first hand the devastation that can be caused.
What happened....
What happened this morning? when you felt you needed to drive fast through the country lanes and big deep puddles.
What happened this morning? when you felt that tailgating my Mummy was the right thing to do.
What happened this morning? that meant you needed to sort out your paperwork whilst driving..
I will never forget that impact, your van, your weapon.
What happened that morning? I was excited.. we were going on a school trip. My world suddenly changed. I watched as a kind G.P, Nurse, Hems and Paramedics all worked on my body that was struggling to stay alive.
I couldn’t breathe.
What happened that morning? I was airlifted with my Mummy. I fought to stay alive but my brain had an injury that looked like a bolt of lighting ⚡️and was just as devastating.
What happened that morning? A week later my Mummy and Adrian held me close as I took my last breath.
What happens every morning I see my family thinking of me, I see the daily fight to continue without me. I was only 11. I send my love and comfort.
Is it worth that extra speed?..can you leave earlier? My life was taken I’m now watching on in heaven.
I was only 11.
Ellie
