Year 7 Curriculum Evening
It was a pleasure to welcome our Year 7 parents to our ‘Meet the Form Tutor and Curriculum Evening’ last night. Following Miss Watling’s, welcome and Mr Chauhan’s overview of Year 7, our parents experienced how their son or daughter is being taught in Maths, English and Science! The key message being that Collingwood students are being challenged to question, think hard and be curious about their learning. Thank you to all our supportive parents who engaged so well with the evening despite the inclement weather!
All slides and information from the evening will be available on Edulink.
Welcome back from the new Principal!
We were delighted to welcome back our students in all Year groups this morning, especially well done to our Year 7 students who survived their first day at secondary school! Miss Watling, new Principal, led assemblies this morning reminding students about the Collingwood College expectations. She would like to thank all parents and carers for their superb support with our uniform policy. All our students looked fabulous!
GCSE Results - Congratulations cohort 2024!
Collingwood College are celebrating today the achievements of Year 11 who have achieved some amazing results despite coping with being in Year 7 when the first Covid lockdowns were announced, and five years with the challenges that the pandemic posed. We are really proud of their resilience and commitment to their studies which they have been rewarded for with all their hard work!
We are delighted with the performance of our students at GCSE level where over 70% of entries were at grades 9-4. Our performance in the core subjects was particularly pleasing as was the 21% of entries that were graded 9-7.
Our most able students achieved a remarkable set of twelve GCSEs at grades 9-7 and three students gained grade 9 in Mathematics and Triple Science. Furthermore, our top twenty students gained outstanding results with at least 10 top grades (9-7) and an impressive number of grade 9 and 8s (176) were awarded between them. This is commendable despite the national backdrop of awarding less of the really top grades.
We must also commend the excellent work by staff in preparing the students for these examinations and the support they provided to ensure students are able to achieve results to move onto their chosen destination.
Eden Tanner, Principal, said ‘Congratulations to all our students on achieving these excellent results in such circumstances. I want to highlight the outstanding teaching and pastoral care provided by our dedicated staff as well as the encouragement and support of parents. We look forward to welcoming our students back to our high performing Sixth Form in September’.
Well done to all our students who have worked incredibly hard to achieve these results!
We are still accepting places for September 2024 so any students wishing to discuss ‘A’ level or BTEC courses should contact our Sixth Form Student Services Manager, Leanne Boon at:
[email protected] to arrange a personalised appointment’.

We are very pleased to report some outstanding achievements by our students in their A level and BTEC qualifications this summer with over 20% of the entries at ‘A’ level being at A*/A. An impressive 90% of those students studying ‘A’ levels have gained three ‘A’ level grades with 72% gaining at least two ‘A’ levels. Furthermore, we are delighted that 50% of the cohort achieved the top grades, A*-B across all qualifications and students achieved a 100% pass rate in all exams.
Most importantly, we are delighted all our students have achieved the results they require to go on to their chosen destinations to continue their studies with at least ten students gaining places at a Russell Group University and our Head Prefect gaining a place at Oxford University to read Law.
Mr Eden Tanner, Principal, said, ‘I must highlight how well all students have done in making it through an incredibly challenging few years. The resilience they have shown under such conditions is remarkable and we are extremely proud of their achievements. I also want to acknowledge the excellent teaching and pastoral care provided by our dedicated staff as well as the encouragement and support of parents.
Congratulations to all our students who have worked incredibly hard to achieve these results.
On Friday 28 June Collingwood celebrated international LGBTQIA+ Pride Day with a Pride March at the Sixth Form. Both staff and students attended this prideful celebration with special guests Anna and Kelly, LGBTQIA+ representatives, from Surrey Police. I am proud that our first ever Pride March at Collingwood proved to be a success; the Collingwood Value Inclusivity was clearly evident with all the support given! Special thanks to everyone who helped me, both at the event and behind the scenes, to make it a huge success. Emily - Year 12 Student - Head of Culture

Parents and carers may be aware of a post that Surrey police put out a short time ago in relation to the incident at College on Thursday evening.
Until this post we could not share further information as there is an ongoing police investigation that we are cooperating with and supporting.
What we can reassure parents of is that no one was harmed during this isolated incident, which occurred after College hours when very few students were still on site.
The situation was dealt with speedily by staff involved and Surrey police. As the post suggests, as a consequence of the threats made and the demeanour of the incident, they have been charged with threatening behaviour and common assault.
The latest advice we have received from the police is that they do not consider there to be any specific ongoing risks to the College or any other local schools.
As soon as we have any more information that we can share, we will do so.
