The recent half term break gave me a chance to catch up on some reading again!

This week we are tackling question 5 paper 1 with our year 11 students.

Writing to describe and narrate, we are using a fun squid game inspired starter and looking at the importance of showing and not telling the reader.

We are also working on making our characters more believable in stories and analysing how effectively structured the popular crime novel ‘Puppet maker’ is.

Finishing the first week back at the day job with a Friday night lesson with one of my private tutees.

Tonight we looked at 'Propping up the line', paper 1 fiction, with a focus on fact finding and language analysis.

Thanks to some wonderful support over the last few months, Halliday Tutorial has grown and is now more than just me - Amy!

It’s a big leap for us but please be assured we only work with the best, tried and trusted teachers, to ensure the same professional - but personal approach to teaching.

I would like to introduce you to our amazing team, here to support in all aspects of English and maths tuition.

Amy Halliday - English teacher

With over 20 years of experience teaching English at all levels, I am dedicated to supporting and boosting the confidence of students ages 11+. As a fully qualified teacher holding QTS status, I have worked extensively with students from Year 7 to adult education, guiding them to succeed in their studies. Additionally, my role as an examiner for a reputable examining body has equipped me with valuable insights to help students not just pass their exams, but excel in them.

Sana Khan

I am a passionate teacher specialising in Maths and English. An experienced GCSE teacher, I hold a bachelor’s degree in English and Linguistics, a PGCE and TESOL certificate. I can teach Maths and English up to GCSE level and tailor all of my lessons to suit the needs of my students to make all of my lessons and engaging as possible

Simon Woods

With a wide range of experience of teaching English from 11+ to adult, I am driven by improving results for learners and working collaboratively to get the best results possible. A fully qualified English teacher with QTS, I have over 10 years teaching experience in a variety of settings, meaning I can personalise the learning experience for all my learners. Working across multiple exam boards and as an examiner means I have a broad scope of knowledge and insight to pass on.
