I often come back to the ending of the book ‘It’s Kind Of A Funny Story’ when talking about suicidal thoughts.
This book and the hope it gives, has saved countless lives.
I’ll never forget the moment I read this particular bit, utterly heartbroken that the author Ned Vizzini, had lost his own battle with depression years priors. I wish he could have gone back and taken hope from his own words. Remembered all the reasons to live. 💔

Reminder for anyone with fish to keep an eye on the tank temperature this week too! High 30's can kill even tropical fish, and it's not ideal for goldfish to go above 24 degrees.

A partial water change with cooler (not freezing) water when needed will do the trick, and you can direct a fan at the water surface too. Also remember to turn off the lights!

Be extra careful of tanks near windows and smaller tanks will heat up quicker. Take care and stay safe!

Today I hosted my first trauma support group for a couple of clients.
It was great to get these beautiful souls all into the same room, and have a laugh about the trials and tribulations of PTSD. Looking forward to next week! 🥰

I’ve been using this weather to do up some cheap IKEA bookcases for our living room. Lots of looooong prep work and lifting, but it feels great to accomplish something on my days off.

I’m not generally one for being a hardcore fan of particular musicians, as in following every piece of their promo, being super aware of when a new album is coming out, or watching interviews about said album.
But these last few months of promo have been such fun! From posting cryptic lyrics and photos behind doors daily for 2 months, teaser videos dropping, hour-long interviews, coachella, one night onlys, secret listening parties fully of hand-picked goodies and everything else I’ve not mentioned - this has been a damn warm hug of a release!!!
In one of the hardest months, where I lost my grandad, this has been my glitter in the grey. Today, release day, is also 9 years since I lost my nan, the best woman to ever exist. On a day that is usually heavy, I’ve now woken up to this beautiful album that has left me filled with love and sunshine.☀️

Am head over heels in love with this!!! 😍😍😍

LOVE this!!! Sitting with your discomfort allows for you to hear through the mess of emotions, and built your tolerance.

This is incredibly harmful and leaves two significant groups at high risk of this disgraceful practice – As*xuals (the current largest group targeted for ‘conversion’) and Trans/gender diverse individuals. These groups already have an outstandingly high rate of suicidal ideation and self-harm.
What this is also doing though, is giving the UK a massive loop hole to cause further harm to the entire LGBTQ+ community. All you need is a few harmful stereotypes and BAM – your gay child has gender issues and therefore can LEGALLY be put forward for conversion therapy.
Up until now, conversion therapy has flown under the radar, and so in some ways was a little less harmful, but now, with all this attention and press, it speaks to reason that there will only be a rise in the harm done to these vulnerable individuals – and it will now be proudly legal too.

The biggest question brought into my therapy room is always “What’s wrong with me?”
And my answer is always the same; nothing. There is nothing wrong with you, you’re not broken and certainly don’t need fixing.
Most of my Ace clients are walking through life feeling different because they’re “missing out on what is supposed to happen with humans”. But as much as all feelings are valid, this simply isn’t true.
We as a society are still fighting the harmful stereotypes that all men want nothing but s*x, that all women simultaneously only want children but hate s*x, that no other gender exists, and neither does something called being ‘s*x positive’.
But when we put all that to one side, simply put, there is no defined amount of s*xual attraction that humans are supposed to experience. And so, the real issue here is lack of awareness. S*x and s*xual attraction isn’t spoken about anywhere as much as it should be, leading to masses of people experiencing s*xual attraction in an array of ways, that never fit the few boxes we’ve been allowed by society. And it’s bu****it.
You are perfect, and exactly as you were meant to be. And you can live a life just as full of happiness and love as anyone else. 🏳️‍🌈

When working with anyone who is neurodiverse I believe it’s my job to meet them where they are comfortable. It’s my job to find the right techniques, environment and communication style - not theirs. It’s my job to keep learning, to ask them for guidance if needed.
And as for the therapy? It is not to bring them in line with being neurotypical, but making sure they get what they need, and understand how they feel, which is always valid.
