Back at the beginning of March you will have seen my post about having to take some time off from work and from social media.
Little did I know in the midst of all the personal issues I was dealing with that the world would deal us another blow - thank you COVID 19 !
As well as being a consultant, author, university lecturer and business owner I was and still am a single mother to a teenager with autism. We were dealing with extreme anxiety and I had to make some priority decisions . My son was and will always be my priority and do I took time to be there when he needed me to hold his hand through an ever increasingly scary situation unfolding.
Well 4 months on and we are both doing much better 😃 we have found our new normal and are thoroughly enjoying our adventures together 😃
And so I am happy to say that I am back at work “but not as we know it Jim!” I have decided to build on a part of my business that will allow me to continue to be there for my son whilst sharing my passion for child centred, play based learning in early years and beyond.
Over the summer I will be launching a new range of affordable early years books packed to the gills with practical ideas and photos 😃.
So it with excited, baited breath that I return to the Early years fold 😃
Watch this space 🤞🤞
Oh and you never know you might still see me training one day - maybe 😜
Kate Moxley Wellness For All Nurture in Mind Ltd Alfresco Learning The Ark Groups Can I Go And Play Now..? Greg Bottrill Playing to Learn - Kirstine Beeley Inspired Children Ben Kingston-Hughes Jigsaw Early Years Consultancy, Hygge in the Early Years, you have all been highly recommended in every session this week! 10 down... 2 to go!
* You must have a warm smiling face that makes every child feel special.
* You must be able to laugh at jokes you don't understand, or you don't find funny!
* You will preferably have a little bit of quirkiness. If a child requests that you be a captain of a pirate ship, you will be the best pirate captain you can be!
* You must feel comfortable telling everybody in the same room as you, that you are going to the toilet!
* The ability to sing in tune is not necessary, however the ability to sing out of tune in front of a crowd is essential.
* You must be able to distribute warm hugs as required.
* Possessing the skills required to rapidly count the heads of numerous moving small people is of the utmost importance.
* Must be comfortable entering public places on the way home from work, with unknown substances on your clothing.
* You must have a high level of comfort around talking about bodily functions. You must have a strong sense of smell to enable you to respond to said bodily functions.
* Pretending to eat playdough creations realistically is required, and that of drinking numerous cups of pretend tea.
* You must have the ability to read a ten page fairytale, upside down, with at least 4 interruptions per page.
* You must be prepared to have lots of fun in the workplace. Laughter is something you can expect to engage in for a large part of your working day.
* Finally, you must be prepared to feel loved, special and important to many young children and their families. There is simply no other job quite like this one.
If the above sounds like you and you have the relevant qualification and experience in Early Years we would love to hear from you!

Above and beyond for the children 😍😍😍
When one of our children came in today and told us about how he had made a snowman at home but it’s head had been knocked off, what did our fabulous staff suggest? They suggested they make him another…. and that’s exactly what they did and then sent it home with daddy at lunchtime 💗🤣❄️
We are delighted to report the snowman is no longer headless and neither did it melt enroute home!
I couldn’t agree more 😡
Classroom Behaviour Charts - not helpful, not supportive, not inclusive.
Can we file them in the bin please? Let’s stop demonising children who are not adequately supported in the class room environment.

Monday again 😊 Have a wonderful week doing whatever you are doing with your little (and not so little!) ones 🌺☀️🍦⚽️🤸♀️🏏⛱🌳
Keep your eyes peeled 👀!
Something exciting is coming in August 😊
Been working really hard on it this week
I rest my case over flipping behaviour charts !!!! I’ve spent the last year trying to undo the harm caused by them to multiple children with special needs 😢😢
I don’t know about you but I’d ALWAYS be on the “Make better choices” peg! 😆
I would also NOT like the whole world 🌍 to see this.
🤔 Perhaps we need to think whether we would want our names to appear on negative behaviour charts b4 we add them to our classrooms in September.
⭐️ I’m not preaching here... We always used to have a happy cloud and a “thinking” cloud, but last year we did away with it. The behaviour in our class was no worse!
⭐️ I want the children in our class to feel wanted, included and to know we value every part of them!
