At the school we support in Zahle, lockdown and power shortages across the country have caused disruptions to the vocational classes. However, the school has been able to secure a generator and vocational classes are running again.
Not only are children able to access vocational classes at the school but teachers and adults from the community have been invited to take part in computer and sewing classes helping them improve their own skills and enabling them to create better futures for their children.
Ustaz Amad has been teaching at the school for seven years and runs the computer lessons he told us that working with computers is a completely new skill for some of the teachers and adults, but they understand how important it is to gain these skills and are determined to learn.
“They now are starting to have a better idea of what computers do and how to use them. They are becoming good at Microsoft Word. We will start with Excel soon. They know how to use a computer and applications on a computer. They will learn how to set up a Google account for email. I’m teaching them how to search, for example. And we will learn how to use the Zoom and Google Meet online applications”.
Thank you to the Players of the People's Postcode Lottery and INTO Giving for helping support our work in Lebanon.
