Foundation Stage learn about the theatre - On Friday, Annabella's mum came to talk to us about her job. She produces theatre shows! She showed us lots of photos of the theatres where she works and the shows she produces. She talked about the jobs she has to do to make the show come to life and the people she works with. She explained that most of her work happens at night and that it can be very busy in the theatre.Thank you for visiting Foundation Stage! https://www.stpauls.hounslow.sch.uk/index.php/news/news-detail/foundation-stage-learn-about-the-theatre

Aquasports Adventure for Years 5 and 6! - Yesterday, Years 5 and 6 had the exciting opportunity to visit ‘Aquasports’ to take part in some water-based activities. Excitement was in the air all day and the children enjoyed 3 incredible activities from sailing; kayaking; building and testing a raft and stand-up paddle boarding. This was of course after getting our wetsuits, helmets and buoyancy vests sorted, which was an adventure in itself!Although there were a few mishaps in some activities (such as sailing boats capsizing unexpectedly! But rest assured, they were quickly rescued by the power boat and used their buoyancy aids to help them float), there were smiles all round and it was lovely to see the enthusiasm on everyone's face. The children tried everything they could and showed a lot of confidence in the water. There were lots of adults enjoying themselves in the water too (and falling in, much to the children's amusement)!Despite the journey home being longer than hoped due to traffic, the day was fantastic and one we hope the children (and adults) will remember for a long time! https://www.stpauls.hounslow.sch.uk/index.php/news/news-detail/aquasports-adventure-for-years-5-and-6

Art Week continued in 5L - We had a fantastic art week in 5L- after exploring Cubism on Monday, we moved onto an interesting style using dots of different colours and sizes, used by artist Yayoi Kusama. The children thought about nature and created their own colourful pieces with a medium of their choice.Later in the week we learnt about famous illustrators, and followed a tutorial by Nick Sharratt (illustrator of Jaqueline Wilson's books), learning to create characters like his. The children used these skills to design their own character for one of Wilson's books. We were treated to a Graffiti workshop from an ex-pupil, who is soon going to study Art at College and the children were very excited and engaged for this. We ended our week by creating a silhouette of individual dots as a class for a whole school display- we can't wait for you to see what the school have produced very soon! https://www.stpauls.hounslow.sch.uk/index.php/news/news-detail/art-week-continued-in-5l

Art Week in Year 1 - This week is Art Week at St Paul's School so yesterday we learnt about the artist Georgia O'Keefe. The children then used oil pastels to make their own close up representations of a flower. The children used some of the techniques that we learnt in our previous art lessons. They used their fingers to blend and shade. https://www.stpauls.hounslow.sch.uk/index.php/news/news-detail/art-week-in-year-1

Foundation Stage take inspiration from Andy Goldsworthy - Today, we have been thinking about how some artists take inspiration from nature. We looked at the work of Andy Goldsworthy and talked about how he uses materials such as logs, stones and shells to create pieces of art. We talked about the shapes he created and how he used different materials to create images of the sun. We also talked about how he uses photos to show the changes that occur over time.We then went into the park and collected materials for our own pieces of art. We used the ipads to take photos that inspired us. The children were amazingly confident and were able to zoom in on tiny details. They even took a few selfies!Well done Foundation Stage! https://www.stpauls.hounslow.sch.uk/index.php/news/news-detail/foundation-stage-take-inspiration-from-andy-goldsworthy
