This week we have been celebrating Chinese New Year. We have made Chinese lanterns, explored different red textures, attempted Chinese calligraphy and role played in our Chinese restaurant. We also tried some Chinese food. We really liked the prawn crackers

The children enjoyed making their own telescopes and searching the garden for all of the different birds for the RSPBβs Big Garden Birdwatch as well as exploring textures in our farm role play.

This week we have been looking at the weather, learning about wind power and melting the last of the snow. We have also been looking at number and shapes and our youngest children have been exploring mark making with chalks.

Well what a cold week it has been! We have had lots of fun building snowmen, exploring the ice and making ice creams as well as celebrating Spaghetti Day and Fairy tale week.

What an exciting and busy week we have had! The children really enjoyed dancing at their parties. They laughed so much at the magician and were very happy to meet Father Christmas. We still had time to paint Christmas trees and explore the shaving foam snowmen.

As we cover nursery with more glitter, we have had fun making decorations, reindeer food and posted snowballs in the snowman's tummy. Some of our children visited Brookfield Care Home and other's enjoyed dressing up in Santa's Workshop.
Next week is party week so remember your Christmas tops and your dancing moves!

On Monday we visited the residents of Brookfield Care Home in Nab Wood. We sang some Christmas songs and coloured in some Christmas pictures and best of all we made some new friends. We can't wait to visit again in the new year.

ππππIt's beginning to look and feel a lot like Christmas!!!! We have been helping the elves in Santa's grotto, made sparkling Christmas decorations and even had Santa's sleigh in the garage to make sure it's all in working order. We have been practicing our Christmas songs and opening our Advent calendar everyday. There are lots of fun things to look forward to over the next couple of weeks.ππππ

This week we have been exploring shapes by making patterns, matching and searching for them outside. We have been bringing some of our favourite songs and rhymes to life through roleplay.

This week we have been learning about road safety, playing games, creating roads and making traffic lights. We also had lots of fun with the snow which was an added bonus.π¦ππππ»π¦

We have had a great time celebrating Children In Need. We have learnt about quantities when making buns to sell, shapes when looking for spots in the environment and colours when painting Pudsey Bear. We have also made poppies for Remembrance Day took part in a few science experiments for National Science Experiments Day.

This week we have continued our Halloween inspired activities and celebrated Diwali. The children have explored colours and light, carved pumpkins and have enjoyed dressing up!

Exploring Autumn both indoors and out. Matching pictures on a scavenger hunt, mixing Autumn colours, making Autumn pictures using sticks and leaves. There are so many textures to feel and sights to see.πππ

There are lots of ways to use our senses. We have been exploring textures through the Autumn leaves, making colours explode with salt and food colouring, splashing in the water and making music. Even the youngest children have been exploring the sensory tent with lights and sounds.

This week we have been have been exploring space. We have played with space dust, made mission control, decorated our own helmets and looked at the story Whatever Next.

This week we have celebrated World Animal Day, making animal masks, putting fingerprint spots on leopards and giving the farm animals a good wash after playing in the mud. We made Autumn potions from leaves and pinecones and used our imaginations to put on puppet shows. We have had so much fun!

This week we have been exploring Autumn. We have collected leaves, made trees and felt the texture of the crisp dry leaves and the freshly fallen leaves, looking at their colours and shapes as well. We have also made an opticians and learned about how to look after our planet through putting litter in the bin and keeping our oceans clean.
