We have our very own baker at Banana Moon Moseley. This morning our Apprentice Rani had made some delicious cheese twists with the children. The children really enjoyed mixing the dough and adding the ingredients in.

We could smell the lovely aroma all over Toddler Floor!

How amazing do they look??

Toddlers had a lot of fun in the Garden today. We have a lovely mud area which the children love to explore. The children do some filling and emptying with the water with the pots and pans!

Messy play is the open-ended exploration of materials. It allows children to use their natural curiosity and engage their senses at the developmental level appropriate for them. They also learn foundational cognitive principles as they exercise motor, language, and social skills.

Midnight Moon Awards - Nominations are LIVE!๐Ÿฅณ

This year, we're excited to introduce four new awards, bringing the total to ten fantastic opportunities for you to shine on stage!

To secure your spot in the spotlight at this year's awards, we need your nominations. These nominations are crucial in helping us determine our deserving winners. Whether the nominations come from a staff member or a parent, we want to hear about the remarkable ways your setting and the people in it make a significant impact on the lives of the children they care for.

Your nominations are the heart of our awards, celebrating the dedication and hard work of those who go above and beyond at the Banana Moon Franchise. Each story shared highlights the unique contributions and inspirational efforts that make a real difference.

Here's how you can get involved:

๐Ÿ”ต Identify - Think about the individuals or teams who have made an outstanding impact in your setting. Read through the criteria and ensure you know which category the nomination is perfect for.

๐Ÿ”ต Nominate - Fill out the nomination form, providing specific examples of their exceptional work. Nomination form: https://www.themidnightmoonevent.co.uk/nominations/

๐Ÿ”ต Share - Spread the word to encourage parents and others in your local community to recognise and celebrate these incredible achievements.

By taking part, you not only recognise the outstanding efforts within your nursery but also shine a light on those whose hard work and dedication may seem routine yet is truly extraordinary.

Let's join together to celebrate the unsung heroes in childcare and ensure they receive the recognition they truly deserve. โค๏ธ

Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details on the awards ceremony. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

All our rooms made some homemade bread today to have alongside their soup at tea time. Some of the rooms made a bread loaf whilst others made some bread rolls. How cool do they all look?! It smelt amazing and tasted even better!

This morning the Toddlers Moon room made some delicious cheese pasties with our apprentice Rani. The children rolled the pastry with the rolling pin and pushed back and forth to make it as flat as possible to place the filling inside.

Did you know cooking can help:

-Building basic skills such as helping build basic math skills by doing something as simple as counting eggs or pouring water into a measuring cup.

-Help young kids explore with their senses especially sense of smell and taste.

-Boost confidence as it supports their independence in following simple instructions.

Walking with someone whether it is a parent, your child or friend. It's an activity that encourages conversations, shared experiences, and a sense of camaraderie. These shared moments help strengthen the emotional connection and trust, improving the overall care experience.

Here are some tips for walking.

Wear any shoes or trainers that are comfortable, provide adequate support and do not cause blisters will do.

If you're walking to work, you could wear your usual work clothes with a comfy pair of shoes and change shoes when you get into work.

For long walks, you may want to take some water, healthy snacks, a spare top, sunscreen and a sun hat in a small backpack.

If you start going for longer walks regularly, you may want to invest in a waterproof jacket and some specialist walking shoes for more challenging routes.

Good Morning to All Parents and Carers ๐ŸŒคโœจ

To show our gratitude to you all we have put on a all day breakfast for you. Please help yourself to something as it will be out all day.

Having good mental health makes life easier. It helps us to calm and comfort ourselves when we're upset, to cope with the losses, changes, fears and uncertainties in life, to make and keep good relationships with other people and to learn. Having good mental health does not mean feeling good all the time.

Please look at the link below for more information on Mental Health if needed.

This week it is Mental Health Awareness week.

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

Focusing on mental health care can increase productivity, enhance our self-image, and improve relationships.

How cool does this wonderful Mud activity activity look. Our nursery apprentice Rani has made this for the children on Toddler floor to play with today.

She wanted to implement all the 5 senses in this activity.

She used cocoa powder for the mud so the children are able to use their smell and even taste.
Touch for the Mud so the children can explain what the Mud feels like when it is dry and wet.
Sight so the children are encouraged to talk about what they can see.

Lastly hearing so when the children push the trucks back and forth to ask what they can hear!

What is National Sun Awareness Week?

National Sun Awareness Week is a campaign led by The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD). From 3rd - 9th May 2024, it aims to highlight the dangers of exposure to the sun.

The sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can damage skin and eyes and cause skin cancer. One-quarter of our lifetime sun exposure happens during childhood and adolescence. Since children spend a lot of time outdoors, especially in the summer, it's important to protect them from the sun.

At nursery we have sun screen on sight for the children to have them ready for the Garden.

Teenie Moons and Toddler Moons were out in the garden this afternoon having a lot of fun with the parachute. Parachute play gets the kids working together for cooperative play.

Did you know while many gross motor activities for young children develop muscles in the lower body, the rhythm of throwing a parachute up into the air develops muscles in a child's upper torso, strengthening primarily their shoulders, arms and hand muscles.
