The Eco Club have been working hard again towards their Green Flag award. Here are our most recent litter pickers out and about in Aylestone and an update on what we've been up to!

[05/25/21]   Ensure you get your fobs ready for tomorrow to start 'Beat the Street'. You should find the nearest beat box to your house, and beep the box, and then beep the one near school when you arrive!
It might mean walking a little bit further everyday, but that will help with fitness and being more active! ๐Ÿ˜

[05/21/21]   Congratulations to Joash and Jayden for achieving GOLD in the virtual basketball competition.

Well Done!

Beat the Street: Play for your school 13/05/2021

Beat the Street: Play for your school

Beat the street will run in Leicester from 26th May to 7th July

Beat the street is an interactive game that anyone can play, it isnโ€™t about being the fastest or the strongest but it's an ideal opportunity for everyone to work together to compete with other schools across the city. Everyone can join in (including parents!).

There will be over 300 beat boxes positioned all over Leicester city , including one right outside of school.

On Friday, your child will be sent home with more information, they will have:

A fob pre-registered to our school, that they can use to tap and count their walking.
A letter with more information and a card (which will need to be registered online) for a parent or guardian to take part with the student.
A printed map showing the locations of All the beat boxes.
The idea is that students walk, ride, wheel, walk or run from one beat box to another and after the first box on each journey each box swiped will earn them and the school 10 points towards their total so scoring when box 2,3,4 are swiped etc. The main rule for the game is that it encourages active travel and participants MUST NOT USE THEIR CAR to score points.

There will be 2 schools leader boards โ€ฆ An overall points leader board showing the highest scoring school , and an average score per head leaderboard allowing those smaller schools in our area to still be in with an equal chance of winning prizes. There will also be competitions with lots of prizes to be won through the whole 6 week game, including nature bingo, poster designing, nature trails etc.

This is a great way of encouraging our school community to get outside, visit some of Leicesterโ€™s amazing green spaces or simply socialize with the people on their street that they may not have spoken to in a very long time.

More information is available at:

website: www.beatthestreet.me

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mq353EbPJnI

It would be great to see Granby on the leaderboard and for us to get out and and about more.

Please look out for the information in your child's bag - and don't forget to register your own card too!

Well Done to all of the children that took part in the virtual skipping competition!

[02/24/21]   Following on from our fantastic skipping challenge in February, we're going to begin a new challenge for March!

To join in, you must try to take 30 minutes of activity for at least 26 days in the month of March. You can do any form of physical activity which keeps you moving: walking, running, skipping, yoga - anything!

You can do different activities every day, or repeat the same ones. I will be running for at least 30 minutes every day.

There are lots of ideas in the video.

If you want to share your activity with the school, please send your videos to me - Miss Hopps.

Have fun and keep active!
