Thank you to everyone who attended our Senior Citizens' Christmas Party on Friday. Mr Hall's Year 10 Hospitality and Catering students, Mrs Billington's Dance Troupe and Mr Hoy's Choir planned and ran a Christmas party for local members of the community. It was a hugely successful event with nearly 100 people attending, including one very special visitor 🎅🏻
Service to others is a key part of our Catholic Mission and it was lovely to entertain the senior citizens of our community and spread our Christmas spirit. See you again next year!
Last Thursday we welcomed the Class of 2022 back into school to collect their official GCSE Certificates in a formal ceremony. We then hosted an awards presentation to celebrate their achievements from last year. It was lovely to see those pupils who have set the bar so high for St Patrick’s and have moved on to exciting new places. They all looked so grown up and we are very proud of them!
All ready for our Senior Citizens’ Christmas party!

In these cold temperatures, pupils really need to be wearing a coat, scarf, hat and gloves to school to stay warm and well. Pupils wearing skirts should be wearing tights as well. We’ve had lots of pupils arrive at school extremely cold and whilst it is warm in school, we want them to be as warm as possible on their journey to and from. 🧤🧣
Please share with your children.
You may have seen on the news recently that four children unfortunately passed away after falling into a frozen lake in Birmingham. We are obviously very close by to a canal which is currently frozen over and UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you stand on any frozen water, no matter how solid the ice looks. You cannot see what is underneath the top layer of ice and it is incredibly dangerous. Please look after yourselves and others and ensure that you are not taking any chances – all it takes is for the ice to crack and we are looking at a very serious situation. Let’s avoid a potential tragedy by being safe and steering clear.
Huge well done to Ronan H in Year 8 who has won a £10 Amazon voucher for participating in 15+ co-curricular activities this term. You will receive your reward in the Award assembly next week! 🙂

It is with deep sadness that we have learned of the passing of Mr Brian McNulty. Brian was a former headteacher of St Matthews and latterly a mentor and great support to Mrs Byrne and our two previous headteachers, Mrs Wall and Mrs Rogers. He was a great servant to Catholic education and a lovely man. Rest in peace 🕊
