What's the catch you may ask? Well the answer is dedication, reliability and paitence. We pride ourselves as a business to make our classes inclusive for all, with a small class size it means we can provide more one to one time with our swimmers to help them progress and feel comfortable.

These hours are available for one teacher on their own or the possibility of them to be shared between a couple of teachers.

With pay from £20 p/h once qualified for a entry level position this really could be ideal for the right candidate. You will be required to the swimming sites in Hertfordshire, specifically Hertford & Welwyn so a full driving licence and access to a car will be required.

Wow, where did the swimming year go!?

Today marks the end of the Summer term for Swimkidz Herts, it's been a very busy 12 months and we cannot wait to see what September brings!

Congratulations to all of our swimmers who have worked so hard on their swimming progression.

To the parents for committing to bring their children each week to encourage that progression, we know that 7am alarm on a Sunday morning is hard to get to the pool for 8am!

🍁⛄🌧️ Swimming is not just for summer! ☃️🌧️🍁

Starting swimming at any point in someone's life is better than not starting at all and why wouldn't you?

Swimming has so many benefits, it's a great form of exercise and is a very important life skill!

Swimming helps with co-ordination - for example in baby swimming when they are reaching forward to catch their sharky, duck or ball.

It helps with self confidence - if a child is quiet, shy and struggles to come out of their shell. Swimming can help with this by the group games and challenges to encourage conversation and bonding together.

It is extremely sad that Swim England announced on 29th April 2022, that in 2021 277 accidental drownings.

Skills taught from a young age can be truly life saving. Teaching children how to turn around in the water, to find something to hold onto or even teaching them how to preserve their energy and how to tread water.

These are just some of the many things that are taught in Swimkidz swimming lessons and many of these from as young as 12 weeks old!

Due to someone being sick in the pool in the swimming school before us the pool has had to be shut for this afternoon's lessons.

Swimwear colour test 🌈 PART 2

Here are some of our sharky swimmers again testing which colour swimwear is the most visible to wear in a pool.

So far we have tested dark blue, red, pink, pale blue, orange, neon yellow, black & White.

We continue to see from their results that the bold/bright colours are much more visible in water, whereas white is definitely not!

🫧 Swimkidz and language development 🫧

Did you know that baby swimming aids your babies Language development?

In Swimkidz lessons babies are constantly interacting with you and other babies and children throughout each lesson.

Throughout the lessons we talk to the little ones, using age appropriate words and language. For example, we tell the younger babies to “kick, kick,kick” when they are taking part in a leg kicking exercise. It becomes apparent very quickly that the little ones begin to understand these words or phrases and enjoy carrying out the associated actions.

We also always ensure that we tell the children the names of the toys as we hand them out. For example “duck” or “sharky”. Babies begin to mimic these words very quickly and it’s really lovely when they start saying them themselves and ask for them.
Some parents have told us that some of the words we use in lessons have been amongst their little ones first words! (Especially the word duck) 🦆

🫧 Babies and toddlers love music, and singing is a great way to build language.

Singing to your baby can help develop early language and literacy skills, such as auditory discrimination, phonological awareness, vocabulary development, and auditory memory.

This is why, at Swimkidz we have built into our lessons various simple songs and rhymes which the little ones really enjoy whilst also aiding their language development. We love hearing them singing along too!

🫧 Studies show that a healthy, stimulated brain performs better academically and improves language skills.

A four-year study of more than 7,000 children by the Griffith University in Australia suggested children who swim have advances in physical and mental development when compared to their peers who don’t swim.

Specifically, the 3- to 5-year-olds who swam were 11 months ahead of the normal population in verbal skills, six months ahead in math skills, and two months ahead in literacy skills. They were also 17 months ahead in story recall and 20 months ahead in understanding directions.

“Scientific studies show that active movement at a very young age facilitates brain development, intellectual achievement, language acquisition, reading readiness, sensory integration and the building of self-esteem.”

So, with each song we sing in Swimkidz classes, each time we introduce something new be it a new toy, a new colour or a new skill, and each time we talk to the little ones, praising and encouraging them along the way we are helping to aid their language development.

I’m sure you’ve all heard of Tummy time and how important it is for babies development.

* Tummy time is laying babies on their stomachs for brief periods while they're awake.

🌟💙 PARENT REVIEW 💙🌟

Isabella and Lucas started swimming as babies, but due to closure of the venue we then stopped and then covid shortly followed.

We went on holiday and I realised that they were not confident in the water, which concerne us.

We knew we wanted to get a swimming pool built in the back garden, but we were worried for their safety if they could not yet swim.

We also knew that they would be required to complete swimming lessons at school soon and we did not feel comfortable with them attending a large swimming class, if they were not confident.

So we starting to look for local lessons that were small numbers and not held in large lesiure clubs, but personalised for the child.
We then found Swimkidz in Herts and the twins love it!

They really like the teacher, all the teachers. They really like how small the classes are, only 4 students and my twins are 2 of them.

They complain the water is cold, but that is the only dislike.

They really enjoy the sessions and goes too quickly!

They have really progressed and are now so confident, They are able to swim and dive to the bottom and enjoy being in the water. No fear, which is great to see!

I wanted to say a thank you for all your help, support and patience with the twins, as they do really enjoy their lessons.

As it’s Valentine’s Day, let’s talk about Swimming and the release of Oxytocin.

Oxytocin is a hormone secreted by the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland, a pea-sized structure at the base of the brain.

It's sometimes known as the "cuddle hormone" or the "love hormone," because it is released when people snuggle up or bond socially. It makes you feel calm and happy and helps you bond closely with your baby.

Every time you cuddle your baby, smile with them, listen to and talk to them calmly and lovingly, their young brain releases Oxytocin, a hormone that helps their brains to grow.

In Swimkidz lessons we actively encourage lots of cuddles, and gentle encouragement with your baby. And each lesson is always full of smiles!

Research shows that swimming increases our Love hormone (Oxytocin).
One of the best parts of baby swimming is the undisturbed pool time which allows you and your baby to form a strong emotional connection right from the start.

This is the awesome Oscar and his mum Nicola sharing their swimming journey with us! We have some super cute pictures of Oscar on his swimming journey!

"Oscar has been swimming with SwimKidz since November 2017 when he was 7 months old and he still loves it today at nearly 6 years old.

From swimming in the pool with his Daddy and enjoying the baby lessons with lots of songs and games and splashing he has loved the water from the very start.
