Our wonderful preschool leader Pebbles and the team thought about the registration journey throughout our nursery...
In the under 2's, the children have photos of themselves so they can see which peers and staff will be in that day. They will often go to the mirror and point to their peers and say the names.
In the toddler room, the children still have a photo, but their name is underneath, so they begin to learn that words have meaning and start to gain a sense of self.
The preschool team have expanded this and created a brilliant registration board to introduce letters and sounds as well as support the children to begin to write their name as well as recognise it. This gives the children new learning as they continue to understand that marks have meaning enhancing their knowledge further.

We have created autumn displays around the nursery as we have noticed the changes to the garden environment as the leaves have been turning brown and falling of the trees. This also has helped our learning about animals, following on from our Ark Farm visit.

As we were closed yesterday, we paid our own respects in the garden at 11 am. We all stood in silence for 2 mins to think about those we love. We watched the sand go through the timer so we could see the length of time. This sparked coversations about remembrance parades the children had attended yesterday.

Look at our Spiders Web we have created in toddlers. We found some spiders in the garden and were very interested in their patterns, so we have used autumn resources and are practising our hand eye coordination using tools to pull them out.

The under 2's have been out in the community using the rainy days to find lots of puddles. The best puddles were on the field as we squished and stomped in our wellies.

This month, we have engaged with our community in many different ways, helping the children learn about the world around them and in their local area.
We have had Ark Farm come to visit showing us all their animals. The children really liked stroking the animals, feeling the different textures, and learning about how we care for our animals around us, especially as winter is upon us where animals need more support as the westher gets colder.

We have had a busy time at Haddenham over the past month. Thank you to the ambulance service for coming to visit and letting us see inside their ambulance, explore, and learn about all the equipment their use to help us in an emergency and to try on their helmets.

Yesterday the preschool children enjoyed a walk to the garden centre. The children did very well walking the 15 minutes to get there - as they went along, the staff talked to the children about road safety, and they thought about the plants and colours they may see as they looked at the flowers in the gardens on the way. In the garden centre we saw plants, flowers, and fruit trees. The children liked walking through the fairy garden and listened to the relaxing waterfalls. We also went to the pet shop and looked at different items that the children might buy for their pets at home. We saw the toy shop and found a game to buy to play in preschool and toddlers. After all our lookong and walking, we were very thirsty and needed a snack, so we sat down for a drink and some breadsticks in the cafe before our walk back to nursery.

We have created a new under 2's garden which the children have been exploring. Today, as the weather has been so lovely, we put the tables outside, and the children had breakfast in the garden to stay cool.

Sunflowers
Today, we planted some sunflowers, we all had a cup with some seeds, soil and water, the children each put the soil in and then the sunflower seed, the children put some more soil on top and then watered them. We then spoke about what the flowers needed and why they needed them "Sunshine and water to help them grow" the children took turns and were able to wait patiently for their friends to finish.

The 2-3 room have been interested in water and vehicles, so the team created a car wash that incorporated both interests together. The children had fun washing and driving the cars with some children talking about their own experiences.

This week, the under 2s have been interested in mark making with paints. They used different tools and different resources to paint on. When painting on foil, they listened to the sounds it made as they made marks with their hands and brushes and, using cling film around the table legs, we painted at different angles copying each others lines and swirls.

The wait is almost over!
As we begin to transition into our new brand, we’ll also be changing the name of our nursery page. Don’t worry if this doesn’t happen straight away, we’ll be busy making sure our page gets updated, so we’re all aligned and operating under our brand new Partou nursery name.
During this transition, you may also notice a blend of the old and new name as our support teams work to update our systems. Please bare with us, behind the scenes they’re working their little socks off to ensure the transition to our new nursery name goes smoothly.
These are exciting times for our nursery as we start our journey into becoming Partou and we’re thrilled that you’re with us as we take the first steps on this amazing adventure!
