As we come to the end of term things are getting very busy !!
Last week was our hospital week, the children had a go at bandging the dollies and making them plaster casts from play doh.
We made x-rays of our hands and looked at real x-rays.
The children made nurses hats.
The bigger ones made lungs using straws and zip lock bags.
We also supported the children in their sports days at the various schools. Well done to you all!
This week our topic is Science 🧬
05/07/2022
The last 2 weeks we have been learning about the seasons and summer.

Are you able to help ? Happy to collect / receive items and drop them off.

Last week our theme was zoo animals.
The children enjoyed a little tikes safari, making parrots, puzzles, playing with an interactive zoo Mat, making models and eating tiger Jelly!
They also enjoyed cooling off in the watering hole and jumping through the sprinkler! We were very happy to have the air con in the lodge last week thanks to one of our parents; Layton air conditioning!

Our topic this week is Dinosaurs.
We have been reading dinosaur books, making salt dough dinosaur fossils, drawing round dinosaurs and exploring the dinosaurs tuff tray.
Out in the garden we have been looking at the dinosaurs shadows and hunting for dinosaurs in the garden.
We have been learning the name of dinosaurs (staff as well) and the different things they used to eat and where they lived.
We have been enjoying some yummy dinosaurs themed foods at meal times such as, dinosaurs shaped biscuits, angel delight, dinosaurs pasta and dinosaur toast & beans.
The older children have been doing some scratch art.
We have even been excavating them from the ice.
We have also been listening to dinosaur music;

“Put them in water or take them outside.”
It was the first useful parenting advice I ever got.
“Sleep when the baby sleeps”?
I think the polite word for that gem is poppycock. But this particular axiom has saved me many times over.
I don’t remember how old my son was when I called my mom in tears because I couldn’t stop his, but his age was probably measured in weeks. Maybe days.
“Nothing is working; I don’t know what else to try,” I sobbed.
“He’s not hungry or sleepy or wet.”
“Try giving him a bath,” she suggested. “Or bundle him up and take him outside for some fresh air. I always say to take them outside or put them in water, and usually, the grumpiness goes away.”
It worked that day, and it’s worked many times since. We’ve done baths at 10 a.m. I’ve paced our driveway with a baby in my arms at 2 a.m. And today, at 5:15 p.m. when my children were fighting for the 17th time since they got home from school and I was about to lose it, instead I put one in the bath and I sent the other outside and now maybe all three of us will survive until Dad gets home.
Almost nine years later, it still works.
I can’t give you advice about sleep schedules or feedings or Montessori-approved toys. I don’t know what we’re gonna do about TikTok and Snapchat in a few years. But when they’re falling apart at the seams for no apparent reason, take them outside or put them in water.
Oh, and it works on grown-ups, too.

So again I am seeing this ! Temperatures are soaring recently and so its again time again to share this warning and advice .
Covering prams with blankets or other materials. The act of covering the pram instead of reducing the pram's temperature actually creates "furnace-like heat" inside.
If you were to place something over a pram to shade baby and it was 22 degrees Celsius, then studies have shown after 30minutes inside the pram will have hit a dangerous level of 34 degrees Celsius. This kind of temperature can cause a baby to die of heat stroke heat exhaustion.
Also as well as the fact it can cause overheating it is also an increase risk for SIDS, and also can cause re breathing co2 because of poor airflow and lack of oxygen. Meaning babies breathing back in their exhaled co2. This then lowers babies oxygen can cause unconsciousness and death. There are many types of sun shades or sun brollys that are all safe to use all you need do is look online.
Because infants’ skin is so sensitive, it’s better in the first six months to shield them from the sun rather than use sunscreen. It’s especially important to avoid direct sun exposure and seek the shade during the sun’s hours of greatest intensity, between 10 AM and 4 PM. Using the shaded areas at all times. Dress baby in light cotton fabric and if baby will wear a hat use a hat.
Please share this simple information as sadly still so many parents are potentially placing their babies lives at risk . It is never ok or safe to cover a pushchair or pram with anything other than a sun sade or sun brolly that has been tested and meets all safety standards.
Something as simple as this brolly that's less than £5 is sufficient enough to shade baby

Please share this post help spread awareness help keep little lives safe. We all just want to do the best for our babies. Once we know better then we can and should always then do better.
Edit as some are just not getting it . Have banned some rude ppl
It doesn't matter if it's not thick if it's only half on if it's only over one side , it doesn't matter if you did it and all yours lived fact is its dangerous no if no buts so stop with excuses and put your hand in your pocket but a sun shade.....
So it’s now 2021 and this has taken off being shared again and sadly as always comes negative and “opinions” , also is showing me really who actually takes notice , as people are tagging me and telling me nobody on the post said anything about age , no I know they didn’t as I wrote this , however amongst the millions of shares views comments so on then trust me many many many many have stated young mums and it’s absolutely nothing about age !
All ages all s*x do it , we learn a parents from mistakes , and the reason for this post which I know it’s done is to stop anyone no matter age shading baby with blanket
An what a great time for this to pop up atm especially with temp high 🥰😂
