Chearsley and Haddenham Under Fives (CHUF), is a dual setting pre-school in the villages of Chearsle
CHUF welcomes children from two years old to school entry age. CHUF in Chearsley is held in Chearsley Village Hall where we have been running as a pre-school since 1968. CHUF in Haddenham opened in February 2003 and is based at St Mary’s CE School in Haddenham, where we have a room dedicated for our use. Both pre-schools have fantastic outside play areas and we provide children with an exciting environment in which to learn.
Operating as usual

At Haddenham CHUF, we have had a fantastic first half of the Autumn term, and have been so pleased to see the children settling in so well.
Last week, we went all out to teach the children about harvest & where our food comes from.
We had so many great activities & learning opportunities and the children really enjoyed it.
Some of the highlights were, the CHUF bakery (children could use real dough & bake bread), the farm shop, planting vegetables in soil, small world farm, pumpkin scooping, vegetable soup & rolls for our snack, hay bales on the patio and having real chickens visit CHUF.
One of the chickens, “Chickoletta” hatched at CHUF in the summer term and so it was lovely for the children who were here then, to see her all grown up!
A really big thank you to Erin’s Mummy, Nadine, for bringing them in for us. We really appreciate all the effort you put in to making this happen.
Less happy news was having to say goodbye to our wonderful administrator Sally Smith who has left Chuf to pursue a new career. Sally has been at Chuf for 14 years and has worked tirelessly making sure everything runs smoothly for staff and parents. We will miss you so much Sally, but wish you every happiness in your next adventure.
We welcome Debbie Whale as our new administrator.
We hope you are all having a lovely break & look forward to seeing the children back next week.
Our new topic will be animals but we will also be learning about the different festivals of light that are celebrated at this time of year.

A little glimpse of some of our Autumnal displays & activities.

Please see below the list of Topics for Chearsley Chuf.

Here are some of the activities from Haddenham Chuf this week. The children really enjoyed acting out an autumn puppet show, using the touch & feel mystery box to come up with lots of descriptive words, and the spider web maths game.
Next week we are going to be thinking about harvest time and learning where our food comes from. It is our last week before the half term break and we have lots of exciting activities planned. If your child has anything from home related to farming they are welcome to bring it in for show and tell.
Have a lovely weekend!

This week at Haddenham Chuf, we have been learning about Autumn and harvest. 🍁
The children have enjoyed lots of colourful Autumn themed activities and also loved jumping in muddy puddles with Peppa Pig and Kimmy’s maths club.

Part of our revamping of our patio area, We have created a dinosaur world for the children to play with.. I think you can agree it looks Roarsome ! And the children love it 😊
Photo 2 are the children’s pizza faces, they made , which is part of our “This is me topic”

Some of the activities from last week at Haddenham Chuf.

Here are some of the activities we have been doing at Haddenham Chuf this week. We are continuing our ‘All About Me’ topic and the children are learning lots about themselves and others. Everyone really enjoyed the Wow activity which was painting with our feet. Look out for the mural featuring the children’s self portraits this week.

During our snack time chats with the children, we discovered how and where their food came from. We turned this into a learning opportunity and took the children to the Chearsley allotments, where the children saw lots of fruit and vegetables growing. This encouraged lots of language from the children.
Later in the week we extended what the children had learnt by making apple crumble and apple muffins .

We have lots of fun activities planned and will do our very best to help everyone settle in.
The Chuf ladies.

Today we harvested our vegetables that we had planted & the Children had them for snack.

At Haddenham Chuf we have just had the most amazing week celebrating the end of the school year.
Our mermaid & pirate themed parties went so well and it was lovely to see the children having such a fantastic time.
The ladies had put so much time & energy into creating the ‘wow factor’ for the party & it made it all worthwhile to see the excitement on their little faces. We heard one child say “can we stay out here forever?” which made our day.
Our leavers assembly was so emotional & the children performed their songs with such joy and pride. We can’t express what a privilege it is to support & guide their little journey through Chuf. We are really proud of them all, and will miss them so much. We wish you all lots of luck for big school!
We would like to thank you all for your kind & unbelievably generous gifts, cards & words of appreciation. It really does mean the world to us.
Finally, as most of you will now know, our beautiful Debbie Fleetwood is leaving Chuf too. Debbie has been nurturing children at Chuf for 17 years & really does have a heart of gold. She has given so much to Chuf and all the ladies over the years & and we will miss her beyond words.
Wishing you every happiness for the future Debbie you deserve it. We love you!
We hope you have a wonderful, fun filled, sunny summer.
We look forward to seeing our returning children in September & cannot wait to meet meet our new starters!
