Changes that are being trialled

Two new manoeuvres will, for the purpose of the trial, replace the current ‘turn in the road’ and ‘left reverse’ manoeuvres. You should still be taught these, though.

The main differences between the current and trial test.

Current test: ‘Show me’ and ‘tell me’ question at the beginning of the test

Trial test: ‘Tell me’ question at the beginning of the test and a ‘show me’ question on the move

Current test: 10 minutes independent driving using traffic signs or verbal directions

Trial test: 20 minutes independent driving using a satnav or traffic signs

Current test: One of the following manoeuvres - turn in the road, reverse around a corner or reverse parking (either into a parking bay, or parallel parking at the side of the road)

Trial test: One of the following manoeuvres - drive in to and reverse out of a parking bay, pull up on the right, reverse, and rejoin the traffic or reverse parking (either into a parking bay, or parallel parking at the side of the road)

Beeping Horn
Have you noticed what the horn is being used for on the road?Well it's supposed to be used to warn of some danger.It's been pointed out to me - yes, I had noticed - that its normal use is to abuse other drivers. Really? (cont'd down)

Take note next time you hear a horn beeped. The danger has passed, but someone wants to express their displeasure, and give that errant driver a piece of their mind. Problem is the beeper lost his/her mind way back.
They didn't spot the danger until it was all too late!!!!!

Pet Hate Drivers speeding through mini roundabouts! Remember drivers, those to your left poses the greatest hazard. Why? They give way to vehicles on the roundabout, so if on approach you are careering along without a thought for your and their safety, an early grave will be your reward.
