Last Monday the reception children at St John's Lacey Green came in to find their classroom replaced with a crime scene, and a video from a "police officer" who had discovered the crime scene over the weekend and left them some evidence to help them in finding out who did it!
Using the evidence provided the children concluded that it was Goldilocks who committed the rime due to the porridge, the broken chair, a lock of blonde hair and ribbon. Throughout the course of the day the children were able to practice using their phonics skills to write, role-playing itch the peers, and they even got to make cctv to see if they could catch a glimpse of the perpetrator!

ODBST Summer Festival 2021 – Bringing hope and happiness.
As the first week of the ODBST festival draws to a close, we have been in awe of the time and work that everyone has put in to coming up with inclusive and engaging activities that are being shared trust wide.
With 11 schools spread across Buckinghamshire and Milton-Keynes, and with very little contact having been able to take place between them for the last year due to Covid, the decision was made to run a two-week festival, across all our schools, to foster the spirit of community that is so close to the core of ODBST and its schools’ values.
The focus of the event has been creativity around the ideas of hope and happiness.
We have seen some wonderful art work so far and cannot wait to see the finished displays. There have been origami butterflies and doves brightening up receptions. Colourful pictures in the styles of Kadinsky, Quentin Blake, Eric Carle, Banksy and Patric Hughes. We have had bubbles, wristbands for pupils and staff, whole school picnics (which haven’t been possible in over a year), rainbows of hope and lots of laughter, we cannot wait to see what next week will bring.
Curzon CE School have recently held their School Science week, and it was a huge success!
This year’s school science days were spread over three days during the week, with each ‘bubble’ following a different theme. The children really enjoyed becoming scientists and learning how to care for our environment.
Barn Owls and Snowy Owls spent the day looking at earth worms. They tried their hand at worm charming and learnt how important worms are to the soil.
Years 3 and 4 studied plastics. They learnt a little about the history of plastics, how they are made and investigated how plastic microfibres can get into the food chain from clothing. They also learnt which plastics can be recycled.
Year 5 and 6 spent their day learning about carbon, looking at the carbon cycle and working out how much carbon is captured in some of the trees on the school grounds. They then investigated ways of reducing their own carbon footprint.
“This was the best science lesson ever-I loved collecting worms and watching them.” Amelia
