July Speech and Language Message of the Month.

Walking is actually a really important skill for your baby's language learning. Walking babies can pick up things that interest them and carry them over to you. This might then encourage you to talk to your child more, using new words and sentences about what they have brought over to show you. When your baby does start to walk or toddle, let them explore their new world and show you what they’re interested in and don’t forget to talk to them about everything they discover! Thank you so much everyone for taking part in ‘Fabulous Fun With Fruit’. Just a reminder that grapes can be a choking hazard & always cut them long ways in 4 pieces. Please supervise your child when eating & be careful of any sharp objects … Enjoy 😀

Choking | nidirect

In advance of Child Safety Week (7- 13 June) the Public Health Agency (PHA), in association with partners involved in the delivery of the Home Accident Prevention Strategy in Northern Ireland, has developed an animation to warn parents and guardians of potential choking hazards for young children and provide practical advice on what to do if your child chokes. This can be found at the following link. www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/choking

There is also a free webinar on burn prevention and first aid that is taking place next week. The Children’s Burns Trust is running this to coincide with Child Safety Week. It begins at 1pm on Tuesday 8th June and will last approximately 45 minutes. Expert speakers will share with attendees how they can prevent an injury from happening and the right first aid to administer if an accident does occur.
For those of you who are interested in registering for the webinar you can do so through Eventbrite using the following link:
