Our beautiful ducks and dogs! The ducks when called upon travel downstream to say hello in the hope we have sweetcorn for them, their favourite treet! The children love having the ducks wander amongst them while they play πŸ‘

The playshed mud garden conjours up all sorts of cake creations πŸ˜ƒ There's lots of mixing and stirring going on with as it appears all sorts of implements πŸ˜†
The sand pit in the Woodland Park allows the children to create, invent, build, communicate, work as a team and have a great adventure in the process. Me, I enjoy listening to the adventure and the stories being played out, what joy πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ƒ

Dollar Glen on the Hillfoots if unknown to you is a jewel on a hot day! The glen is shaded with shallow burn which offers great play and adventures for children. This was my playground when I was a child and love any opportunity to go there. The children had a great day exploring the burn, building pools, searching for fish and newts, making new friends, and some tree climbing over fallen trees πŸ‘
Castle Campbell sits stead fast at the top of the Glen steeped in history with wonderful views out over the Forth Valley.
History, Geography & a day in the burn makes for a great day out πŸ‘πŸ‘

At OMF we take a great interest in the birds that we visit us. Currently we have swallows, blue t**s, Cole T**s, Mr and Mrs Wood Pigeon plus young, Blue Jay's, Spuggy Sparrows and young, Sparrow Hawks, Buzzards, Tawney Owls and the occasional Barn Owl to name a few. Our red squirrels visit regular and the noisy Oyster Catchers are nesting in the fields.
However the OMF Ducks, Kaki Campbell are now fully grown and laying four beautiful eggs daily! As I've hand reared the ducks they are now interacting with the children as they make there way daily down to the river. When they've had enough river/burn time they make there way back to the fruit garden via a swim in the paddling pool. The children take great delight in seeing the ducks and having them around. We have 'Duck Discussions' where lots of questions are asked about feathers, beaks, webbed feet, quacking etc
Birds are such an important part of OMF and are a great source of interest and discussion. They really are the sole of OMF πŸ‘

πŸ¦†πŸ¦† Enjoying this glorious weather! At OMF nature provides us with all sorts of fun
At OMF we have various depths of pools in the river. The older children can use the deeper pools to practice their swimming along with free play and many adventures 🏊 (fully risk assessed)

Being on lifeguard duties I get the opportunity to listen and observe their imaginative play!

The kids found bits of drift wood and used them as natural floats which allowed them to practice their swimming. They used the current of the water to swim against which allowed them to swim for longer πŸ‘
The younger children enjoyed the warmth and safety of the nature pool which allowes them to paddle and practice their swimming.
My ducks decided that all the fun was to good to miss out on and joined us in the nature pool πŸ˜ƒWhat a joy! πŸ¦†πŸŠπŸ¦†πŸŠπŸ¦†

We were gifted tadpoles and frogs. Children helped build a small pool to release them into. Hopefully will we see frogs soon! They may even find there way into the nature pool! πŸ‘πŸΈπŸΈ

The Incredible Importance of Developing the Vestibular Sense β€” 1000 Hours Outside Movement during the day and throughout childhood is crucial. The importance here is monumental. Childhood is when children develop the vestibular sense and it's not happening while they sit still.

This little lady was very apprehensive about Dogs before she came to OMF. With lots of reassurance and patience from Sheeba they are now best friends.
When children are allowed to wander free with animals they develop a special bond of trust and love! Children & animals naturally gravitate towards each other and when children are given the tools to be around animals thats when the magic happens!❀

Outside Play is Crucial for Emerging Readers and Writers β€” 1000 Hours Outside

So true!

Outside Play is Crucial for Emerging Readers and Writers β€” 1000 Hours Outside What I have learned throughout the past decade of outside play is that my kids are developing in untold ways. They are obtaining the skills needed for future success as they jump, run, skip, roll, and tumble.

I couldn't agree more!πŸ‘πŸ‘

Nature Time is a Worthy Extracurricular Choice β€” 1000 Hours Outside Many kids are too busy to have time to play creatively or relax after school.

And with the snow comes a magical dimension to play. Snowdiving, snow angels, rolling, footprints both human and animal all leaves different imprint in the snow. We started off by tracking the animals footprints but only found the rabbits. The children identified their own markings left by their wellies/snowshoes and followed their own footprints around the field. After building a snowman it was back to snow diving πŸ˜„ ❄❄

One of the most wonderful parts of the job is watching children come together, work together, create together, imagine together and play together, all I provide is the tools and the setting to allow it to happen πŸ‘
