The Botanic Nursery is a family run plant nursery growing unusual hardy garden plants. We hold the national collection of foxgloves for Plant Heritage and have a passion for sharing our gardening knowledge through our Garden School Workshops
The Nursery exhibits at many major Flower Shows receiving awards for our displays. Most recently we were awarded Gold Medal at Chelsea Flower Show in 2019 for our exhibit of Foxgloves (Digitalis). We have also a superb selection of Hollyhock (Alcea) which we exhibit at Hampton Court Palace Flower show receiving a Gold award also in 2019. The Salvia are displayed later in the season at Wisley Garde
Operating as usual
Looking for something to do over the summer holiday period, why not come and pay us a visit. The nursery is full of life, not only with the blooming flowers, but with the buzz of bees and fluttering of butterflies. Take a walk around the garden, look at the wonderful plants on sale and if you fancy a beverage, hot drinks are available to buy which you can sit down and enjoy in the beautiful surroundings.
#rhshampton Yippee Silver Gilt. Here is a glimpse of just a few stands in the fabulous Floral Marquee more to come
Setting up at #rhshampton 2021 looking good everywhere
This bee is having a great time in amongst the Foxgloves there are still some left at the nursery so get along and buy them now. If you mention Facebook to Terry you can have 3 beautiful flowering plants for £15.00 instead of £6.50 each so visit Saturday to take advantage.
Oh I managed to find a few out, but lots still to come. Excited for Foxglove Week this year 31st May to 5th June, we will have lots to select from.
A brief snapshot from our Chelsea exhibit in 2019 #RHSChelsea. If we were exhibiting right now we would be struggling to find colour on our beautiful plants. Lots of spikes of flower just a hint of the buds wanting to open.
Spring Newsletter finally ready, hopefully this will herald some warmer sunnier weather to encourage everyones gardens to blossom into growth.
The rain may be falling but the plants are thriving. Why not don your raincoat or waterproofs and come up and see us. We've even got hot drinks and biscuits available to keep you going. Look forward to seeing you soon!
Our very own Mary and Terry were radio stars yesterday evening on BBC Radio Wiltshire. They were guests on Sue Kinnear's 'Happiness Project' feature, where they talked about adapting through lockdown, Chelsea Flower show and what makes them happy.
If you missed the show, you can listen again on BBC Sounds. Click on the link to have a listen.
They are on twice. The first part is on after 2 hours and 20 minutes and then again at 2 hours 40. Move your mouse over the time line and drag the dot to the relevant part to listen.
Evenings on BBC Radio Wiltshire - With Sue Kinnear 05/05/2021 - BBC Sounds Featuring Upload, BBC Introducing, great music and Make A Difference.
Come and visit us at Great Chalfield Manor on Sunday 2nd May where we have a stand at the Annual Plant Fair. We will have a range of plants available for you to buy.
Perhaps the thing that sets us apart from ordinary plant sellers is that we have always 'Gardened in Harmony' with the wildlife that shares our site. 26 species of song bird nest in the gardens and many more in the 2,000 acres of organic farmland surrounding us.
The recent rainfall came just in time as many fledglings are starting to leave the nest, a time when even seed eaters look for juicy grubs and larvae to provide the rapid energy boost baby birds need. Insects wait for spring rain, a time of fresh green growth, to in turn, guarantee lots of food for the grubs needed by the birds, and so the circle of life continues.
The Botanic Nursery is a small garden plant nursery business based in Atworth Wiltshire. We are looking for an office manager (part time) to take on the day to day tasks required to help run the administration side of our business.
We are looking for some who is flexible and proactive, to take on what they see needs to be done and who is personable and confident to engage with customers. We look forward to welcoming you as part of our small, friendly and hardworking team at the Nursery.

Something of a prophetic creation coming to fruition as he hasn’t been back to do one since. And sadly no exhibition this year.
But RHS have a list of exhibitors who would have been there for you to browse, so if you missed the online event take a look now

BBC Gardeners' World Live
#BeautifulBorder 'The Wild Side', by Charlotte Allen at #BBCGWLive 2019, represented the harmony between childhood and nature.
The magical feeling of inhabiting a wild natural space and the experience of sharing the space with wildlife and nature, at it's most free and relaxed.
The planting is carefree and wild, to recreate a naturally evolved space. Over the fence is the contrast of a well-maintained urban garden, with the wildflowers creeping under the fence as if exploring new ground, just as the children would have done, just in the opposite direction!
With thanks to Charlotte's sponsors and supporters including Kelways Plants and The Botanic Nursery.
