We booked Danny for our sons 10th bday party at our home. Kept it small with only 10 children plus some adults.
Danny was absolutely brilliant. Had everyone completely engrossed and lots of laughs. The bday boy loved spending time with all the animals and was in awe the whole way through.
Everyone commented what a different but brilliant party it was and i have to say, even a scared mummy enjoyed it. Thank you so much for a truly brilliant time.

Nice little find this evening, although a couple of weeks earlier than I anticipated it would be.
I do suspect some of the litter has been turned into lunch by another female the mum shares the enclosure with who also is a couple of weeks away from dropping her own litter so anything that moves is food/ fuel at the moment- pleased but also gutted, I could be wrong ?

Today is a good day :) 6 months ago I moved my fire skinks into a fully live planted bioactive setup, very shy creatures Iv not seen them much since and always questioned is their enclosure fully suited, just doing the water checks tonight and my doubts have been answered I noticed these in the corner of my eye:) Without trashing the enclosure I can’t find the original clutch of now hatched eggs but have found a second clutch that I’m going leave in situ, because the enclosure is so densely planted I’m going to have keep lots of eyes on this for more hatchlings :) #curiouscritters #newlife #fireskink #bioactive

Today this SHOULD have been me!!

My friend constantly rants about the weather and I usually laugh but today I’m joining him.
This event has been booked in for a while, we usually attend and it’s always a great one,
Over the last week I’ve spent hours in the evening planning and getting things ready for today, it isn’t simply a case of just turning up for me.

I have other friends that may sell wax melts, rac breakdown cover, even one that does on the spot photo prints,
For me it’s a different ballgame altogether,
Firstly the animals need to be selected and conditioned for the event,we always have back up animals just incase for example the one planned goes into shed or moults,
We have to construct the display enclosures to suit each planned animal, these are the small enclosures used to showcase the animal for that few hours before it returns to its larger better suited enclosure back at base,
Next is the heating elements, most reptiles need a heat range of 70f to some well over 100f we have to make sure we can supply this with heating equipment and a petrol generator to support this,
Then my next bit of rant, I know how popular my stand can be, this is an old picture it’s far better than this nowdays I know what brings in the crowds and effectively money to support us doing this, money that can’t be made without shelling out first, I was at the suppliers last week and purchased a variety of things, then creating them into “critter goods” this takes a few nights of effort.
Next it’s all the little bits and bobs that make our events like this better each time the stuff that draws you in.
The promoting of an event to people I meet and also with that comes me turning away other should we say easier work for the events.

Loading the vans!!!
The vans have to be loaded in a certain way… like a game of Jenga, loading up to go to the events the animals have to be last in and last out this is always a tricky one, last night I worked until it was pitch black to get everything else but the animals in to the vans filled to the brim, back breaking stuff the gazebo and generator weigh a ton,to add the gazebo as heavy as it is needs to be first out 😂

So after the last 6 or 7 days battling all the above and working until daft hours in the evening, watching weather reports and adjusting brings us to today.

So this morning up early as a cockerel I sat under my porch with my brew and waited and waited until I decided
I had been defeated by the weather ,

Can I compete with the wind chill?
Is it safe for the animals ?
Can I meet their requirements ?
Will I have break in the weather to get the gazebo up in time?
Can under the Stand support the wet number of visitors?
What effect will the wet visitors have on the animals, display and interaction?

It’s a very tough one for me to gamble and it’s not going to be the last time, events like this take it out of me, I do love them though I really do, but when I’m beaten by the weather it really ticks me off,
I now have to at some point unload the vans, deconstruct display enclosures for storage, carry and store stock until the next one whenever that may be ?
Take a financial hit of that said stock and the days loss in earnings, the loss of not meeting new faces and seeing those smiles and shocks, the letting folk down that like me have put huge effort into organising events like today.

But above all that what really annoys me is all of the above is because of the weather that changes as the toss of a coin !!!!!
