Yesterday during our RE lesson, Year 6 learnt all about what a parable is and explored the fact that they usually have special meanings. As a class we read the Parable of the Prodigal Son and explored how the younger son had been unkind to his father. Our topic in religion is Loving and we explored whether the younger son had shown his family unconditional love or not. To determine this we held a class trial that included a judge, the jury, defence and prosecution lawyers, witnesses for both sides, and newspaper reporters. After examining the younger brother and asking him lots of heated questions, the jury reached their verdict that he had failed to show unconditional love.

Today in Religion, Year 3 looked at how parents and children should love and respect one another, as God wants them to do. We listened to letters that Paul wrote to the Ephesians telling us how we should love and respect our family.

We then each wrote a prayer thanking God for our wonderful homes and families, then shared some of our prayers in the chapel.

Dramatic recreation of chapter 4 of Kensuke’s Kingdom featuring Year 6.

Today, Year 6 recreated a dramatic scene from Kensuke’s Kingdom. We acted out chapter 3 when the main characters Michael and his dog, Stella fall out the boat! We had our sound technician team who carefully selected wave and wind music, we had our narrators reading out part of the chapter, our word team who carefully selected and read our words that described the scene, and our fantastic actors and actresses acting out the waves and wind, the sealife and the main characters. A fantastic group effort! Well done year 6!
