Dear parents,

As you may have seen, the temperatures are set to soar on Monday and Tuesday to unprecedented highs.

Public Health England has published advice for early years settings about the effect of heat on young children, as a heatwave is set to hit the UK in the next few days.

Children are particularly at risk as they cannot control their body temperature as efficiently as adults – due to not sweating as much.

We will do our best to keep the children at the setting cool and safe - we will be keeping the children inside on both days.

For these few, extremely hot days, we will be having very limited exertion, this will help the children to not overheat.

We will also be having some simpler and quieter activities, water plays, indoor sand play and the treat of watching a Disney movie, on each afternoon.

We will offer the children plenty of refreshing fruit snacks, ice lollies and lots of cool water to drink. All meals will be served cold.

In line with local schools and other providers, we ask you to consider if you are able to collect your little one earlier on these days, where possible; as children can find hot days far more exhausting and some may struggle.

Please send children in very lightweight clothing on these days too.

Nappies will be changed more frequently too, please put some extra in the bag.

There is a red alert for the temperatures in the coming days and this is classed as an extreme heat warning.

At the moment, we are still allowed to open, however this may change as the weekend progresses.

We will keep you updated if we are asked to close by the local authority.

Dear parents,

I’ve send you all a copy of our updated (Jan 2022) Neverland policies and procedures.
Please do read them (if you might have any questions, do not hesitate to ask ), print the last page, sign and bring it to the setting by the end of January, so we can attach it to your child’s paperwork, thank you.

We wanted to inform you of our updated covid policy.

We have been informed that as a setting if I have a covid case in my household, I no longer have to close for 10 days.

We can re open on day 8 as long as everyone in my household has a negaitive lateral flow test on day 6 and 7.
If we do get a covid case in my household we will not open without doing a thorough deep clean beforehand.

Children will now be able to attend our setting on DAY 8 as long as they are well enough to, and if everyone in your household has a negative lateral flow test on day 6 and 7 including your child.

If ANYONE in your household continues to have a positive lateral flow test, your child will not be able to attend our setting until after 10 full days of Isolation.

If you prefer not to carry out a lateral flow or PCR test on your child, then they will still need to isolate for the full 10 days.

You HAVE TO inform the setting if there is a COVID case in your household, failing to do so will result in termination of the contract.

Our policy now states, that if you as parents/carers or anyone living with your child in the same home test positive for Covid your child will need to isolate until day 8 following a negative lateral flow test on day 6 and 7 for everyone in your household .

IF your child has thick white, yellow or green mucous that is not clear, following covid in your household, or a cough or a temperature above 37.5 degrees, or if they need calpol to cope with any symptoms, they must remain at home for 10 days.

If you test positive, you are still required to self isolate for up to 10 days depending on tests on day 6 and 7.

We will not require your child to isolate if your child IS NOT LIVING with someone close who has tested positive, but we would still ask all close contacts to carry out a PCR test.

If your child does test positive during those days of isolating with you, they will also need to isolate for up to 10 further days from their date of testing positive, and all close contacts of the child would need to do a PCR test.

PCR test is required if your child develops ANY of the covid symptoms such as coughing (more than 3 episodes in 24 hrs), temp above 37.5 degrees and loss of taste or smell.

Dear parents/ carers 💛

Please can we ask you to apply sunscreen before your little one arrives in a morning, and we will then continue to apply it throughout the day.

If your child stays in the setting after lunch and bed time, please put the sunscreen in the bag so we can apply some more after the bed time and in the afternoon, Thank you.

Sunscreen is more effective when its been applied well before exposure to the sun and with the weather now getting hotter, our setting will be free flow indoor - outdoor play so that the children may be in the sun early and we want them to be safe from sunburn 💛

Also please Do remember sun hats and swimming costumes in the bag at all time pls as we are planning to Have lots of water plays to keep your little ones Cool in this heat ☀️
