Unfortunately the Terracycle recycling scheme is coming to an end - please do not send any items of recycling to Hilltop School after March 18th.
Walkers have withdrawn their support for the crisp packet element and the bread bag recycling is ending too. Due to these ending it is not viable for us to continue with just oral care.
Please make sure the following items are with us by March the 18th:
- Bread bags
- Crisp packets
- Oral Care items
Once Terracycle have received our last packages I will update you with the total.
Thank you all for your support!
Pupil Parliament did a brilliant job collecting the donations for Place2Be this morning. Together we raised a fantastic £102.31!
Today we all wished a wonderful friend of Hilltop School, Mr Bill Milward, a very happy 106th Birthday.
Mr Milward loves coming into school and spending time with the children - as you can imagine at 106 he certainly has some interesting stories to tell!
Mr Milward was born in 1916 and is served in WW2. On D-Day he was at Gold Beach Ver Sur Mer as a DUKW driver. He provided essential supplies throughout Europe including Belsen and Auschwitz.
As a lovely surprise for his birthday, the DUKW was transported up from Peterborough and driven into the school grounds, something that I am sure both Mr Milward and the children at Hilltop will remember for a very long time.
It was also Seb's 8th birthday today, so with almost 100 years between them they stood together and were treated to a round of Happy Birthday from the whole school.
Happy 106th Birthday Bill Milward!
Derby Cathedral Choir is one of the only ensembles of its kind within the East Midlands, singing a broad range of repertoire to the very highest standards from medieval plainsong to newly commissioned works.
All of our Choristers receive a first-class musical education, including free one-to-one singing and music theory lessons. Furthermore, all our Choristers are paid a termly scholarship for their work at the Cathedral.
Throughout their time in the choir, our Choristers are trained in professional music-making; receive a unique all-round cultural education; acquire a sense of self-confidence and purpose; gain vital leadership and teamwork skills; develop lifelong friendships; and have plenty of fun in the process!
The Cathedral Choir undertakes tours both within the UK and abroad. Previous tours include Paris, Belgium and Rome and a tour to Greece is in the pipeline post COVID.
Membership of the Cathedral Choir is free and no prior musical training is necessary.
Parents of interested children are warmly encouraged to contact the Music Department at

CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK 2022
To celebrate Children’s Mental health Week we are going to be holding a Dress to Express day in school on Friday 11th February.
The Dress to Express day is an opportunity for pupils and staff to wear something bright, colourful or expressive for the day.
We will be asking for a £1 donation towards Place2Be. Place2Be launched the first ever Children’s Mental Health Week in 2015 to shine a spotlight on the importance of children and young people’s mental health.
** HILLTOP TOTS **
Unfortunately, due to staffing concerns, we have had to cancel Tots this week (Friday 4th). We hope to be back up and running next week and we really cannot wait to see you all!
We’re really sorry to have to cancel HILLTOP TOTS this week (Friday 28th)
We hope to see you all next week 😄
This week there is NO Hilltop Tots....
We will be back up and running next Friday 28th January!
The children had great fun showing their creative side and decorating our HUGE Christmas tree - it's standing proudly in reception, by the entrance to the Hall 🎄🎄
Many thanks to Garden and Fencing Services for your generous festive donation!
We are continuing the search for a cleaner and a caretaker at our school.

Good luck to all who apply!
Yesterday our Year Ones and Twos took part in a Football Tournament at Osmaston Polo Ground. They did us proud! Despite some of them never having played football before Team Hilltop won 8 out of 14 matches! Well done to all of the schools who took part.
