Working away from home and stuck in a hotel during lockdown restrictions has made training difficult

I have done my best to adapt and I accepted early on that I was just going to have to maintain rather than build and improve

That in itself has been a challenge because, despite my best efforts, it has affected my mindset. I woke up this morning and wasnโ€™t feeling it at all. I forced myself up and into the little corner of my hotel room set aside to throw a kettlebell about

We all have days like that. The key is to just get up and do what needs doing. Because that resets your mindset in the right way which immediately makes you feel better because youโ€™ve accomplished something

It is important not to get lost in the fact that fat loss within the human body can be simplified to a calorie deficit

I always explain to clients the need for adaptability and this video is a prime example

I am currently limited to what type of training I can do due to not having access to a gym and being limited to a medium sized hotel room. I have simply adapted to use one kettlebell for full body workouts
.

This morning was a quick EMOM 10x10 protocol:
staggered alternating press ups on the KB - this causes an imbalance across your chest and works different muscles fibres
Paused Bent Over Row - luckily the KB is heavy enough to row. The adaptation is to hold the row at the apex to increase muscular activation

Here you can see a perfect example of how small incremental changes to a programme can illicit big results

Itโ€™s a prime example of how progressive overload works - increase an aspect of the workout week on week to keep making progress. We lowered the time on this session, alternatively you can increase the weight of the resistance. Both ways work

Cardio is my least favourite type of exercise. I rely heavily on my day-to-day activity levels to keep the cardio wolves at bay but I also throw in metabolic weights focussed sessions as well
