The Centaurs spent Wednesday working with the teachers from Lifepath. They learnt all about St Cuthbert and his life including why he became a monk and how he dedicated his life to God.

The children took part in some crafts, dancing and some reflection time about the words Thank you, Please and Sorry.

All of the children were fantastic and they were commended for their behaviour, politeness, kindness and their eagerness; Well done Centaurs!

In Forest School this week we have been whittling. Our children have been using a tool for the first time, they were naturals!
We were making wands, then we made potions and finally we were casting spells with our magical handmade wands.

Unicorns class have been using small world play to explore the story of Noah's Ark. We used the watering can to make it rain until the tray was flooded and our ark floated, then had lots of fun splashing with our hands to make the water look stormy. After the storm we used the water from the flood to help our new plants to grow.

Yesterday in Forest School we were looking at different kinds of trees, we then identified them by their leaves. Once we moved the leaves that had fallen we found bugs and insects, so we then went on a bug hunt. Finally we made bark rubbings from the different trees.

We all loved being back at Forest School!

Year 5/6 had fun recreating chapter 11 of The London Eye Mystery using drama. They thought about how their characters might be behaving in such a stressful situation and showed this through their actions and line delivery. Well done Phoenix class!

Here are some pictures of our amazing unicorn class taking part in DT week; filling and emptying containers, practising our cutting skills and exploring texture with spaghetti, tasting and talking about different ingredients for pizza toppings, and making playdough pizzas.
Today the children were really excited to join in with singing, dancing and exploring different musical instruments with Mrs Nicklen again.

In Forest School this week we were...
Celebrating with hot chocolate and biscuits since it was our last one of the half term.
We looked at different country's masks for celebrations and tried to recreate our own using natural resources.
What great fun we had!

This week in forest school we were playing a game called find the hum less this where all the children were blind folded apart from one child who was humming. The children with the blind folds on, then took them off and they had to guess who it was that was humming.
We were painting sticks different colors and hanging them up to make wind chimes.
We have been very fortunate to have had some great weather for forest school but unfortunately it was thundering and raining yesterday so we had to do some of it inside, however we still had so much fun!

Phoenix class are studying the London eye mystery. Last week we were looking at the use of idioms. We thought about their literal meaning as well as the meaning of the actual idiom. After finding idioms in the text, we created our own conversations between two of the characters in the book which had to include idioms. Finally we acted out our new scenarios. It was such good fun!

Also...in computing

We had Ms Whitelock from the High School in our computing lesson on Wednesday to see the amazing work we have been doing programming Crumbles. She was very impressed, particularly with our resilience and perseverance when problem solving.

We also had great fun playing connect four in our Spanish lesson.
