Hey just heard about you on Radio 2 - what an amazing sounding project, such valuable work. I imagine you only operate in Scotland - I'm based in Sussex and would love to be able to do something similar down here.
I'd like to share a rather unusual, free, aces prevention resource...bumper stickers! Advancing Parenting, a Camarillo CA nonprofit, produces parenting tips bumper stickers and makes them available at no cost to businesses, organizations, clinics, schools, and individuals. There are fifty-one in a set and each bumper sticker communicates a parenting behavior or practice generally recognized as supporting the healthy development of children. Just one will be read thousands of times!

Bumper stickers are a unique and powerful way to educate everyone about parenting. At stoplights drivers and passengers point, smile, and nod. Conversations begin and often a phone is used to take a photo of the sticker right at the stoplight. Presumably, they are being shared on social media. It's wonderful to see!

Sets of the stickers can be put in holders and placed on counters and tables so folks can select one or more for their cars. Visit www.advancingparenting.org to order this free resource. Use a computer...our website is not optimized for phones. Please share.
What amazing work you guys do, I was in awe watching you all on the Zoom call. I’m Jamie Lee’s mum, and I never realised how big this is. What a fantastic team, and obviously i am so so proud if my girl πŸ₯° Keep up the good work guys, I am excited to see where you go from here πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ xx
Thank you so much for my two boys boxes. Lockdown has been hard on them but this has brightened their day ❀️❀️

Amazing night last night at Macrobert Arts Centre watching 'Herself', a film by charity Birds Eye View: A Pathfinder For Films By Women and backed by BFI. A huge thank you to Grahame from the Macrobert for looking after us so well and thanks to Stirling University Student Union for hosting us before the film.

If you haven't see 'Herself' yet we encourage you to check it out. It will be showing at the Macrobert until Thursday this week 🍿

Herself at Macrobert Arts Centre

This Monday 'Herself' will be showing at the Macrobert Arts Centre at 7.45pm. Our very own Shumela Ahmed will be introducing the film, she will be followed by a recorded Q&A (with captions) with Phyllida Lloyd and star Clare Dunne.

The event is presented by #ReclaimTheFrame, a mission to bring ever-greater audiences to films by women to widen and enrich cinema’s perspective of the world, run by charity Birds’ Eye View, and backed by the BFI’s Audience Fund.

We hope to see you there!

Yesterday in TIER:
We used a feeling wheel for our morning check in which worked really well! We will shortly be creating a film with BeeZom Productions to reflect on our time in TIER which meant thinking of questions and answers. Also had a visit from Sandra Engstrom with some really interesting group discussions on community justice, climate and how we use our lived experience for good. What an amazing day! πŸ’œ

Does your organisation want to become trauma informed and responsive?

🟣 Understanding the prevalence and impact of trauma in Scotland is one of the key fundamentals in the journey of becoming a trauma informed organisation.

🟣 Equipping staff with the knowledge and skills to understand the individual and societal impact of trauma is one of the most beneficial learning and development opportunities you can expose your staff to.

🟣 As well as equipping staff with essential skills and knowledge, trauma informed practice can also enhance your organisational practice, policies and procedures.

If you would like to book a Trauma Training session for your organisation, please reach out to Julie MacDonald

#GoodNewsFriday - very excited to announce a new 3 year long project funded by The Robertson Trust and their β€˜Partner in Change’ Fund. Working alongside Apex Scotland and other partners to implement Trauma Informed Practice.

Huge admiration for Apex and the exceptional Emma Wilson (Apex) for courageously tackling this! πŸ‘πŸ½

The importance of involving lived experience in service redesign is finally being realised. Only 6 projects in total secured this fund. For RLP to be partnering with Apex in one of those 6, is a testament to just how far we’ve come. #Hope πŸ™πŸ½

We have a few Trauma Training sessions available over the next few months, so if you would like to book a session for your team or organisation, please reach out to Julie MacDonald to discuss further.

We can either do the training in-person at our venue in Clackmannanshire or a venue chosen by you. We can also do the training online if that is more suitable.

Please consider putting your blue token in our container so we can continue our work in the local community x ❀️

Tesco in Alloa have 3 wonderful charities all looking for your support.

Over the course of the pandemic, these 3 have shown versatility, strength and resilience by adapting their ways to continue supporting those within the community that benefit from their activities.

When you shop, be sure to ask for the blue tokens and pop it in the box that is headed by a cause that resonates most with you ❀️

You can find out more about each charity by visiting their social media sites and/or website.

It costs no extra but you get to leave with a spring in your step knowing you are contributing

We had the honour of having a wellbeing session delivered by none other than the exceptional Lee Davidson of Out of the Blue with Lee. to our mixed #TIER group today.

Lee’s approach in delivering this is out of this world never mind out of the blue! We could not recommend her service more. We also have our staff wellbeing sessions delivered by Lee six weekly and it really is a must for any team working in this sector. Lee’s approach, authenticity and in-depth knowledge really is a treasure- we feel very privileged to have her presence and her amazing skills in supporting us through what can be a very tough job at times.

🌎Thank you so much Lee. Today was fantastic! πŸ™πŸ½x

[07/06/21]   Come and have your say about anything in the cervical screening process that doesn’t work for you, whether it’s as a result of sexual violence, a difficult birth or anything else x

The only way procedures will change is if we can say what is wrong with the current way of doing things. All data collected will be anonymous and you won’t be identified in any way.

Studies show that domestic abuse rates increase by over a third during major football tournaments, especially when a team loses.

Let’s be clear tho, neither football or alcohol cause violence or domestic abuse. Individual people choose to abuse their partners and children.

Alcohol doesn’t turn reasonable people into abusers, it simply lowers the threshold upon which they’ll act. If alcohol was to blame they’d act in the same manner no matter who they’re with but that’s not how it happens.

They don’t abuse their friends, colleagues or strangers, they save that for the ones who won’t report them… the ones who won’t fight back… the ones who love them…

If you or anyone you know is at risk from someone at home please contact any of the organisations in the pinned post above and in an emergency dial 999
