Good Morning Everyone!

The Turkey & Trimmings squares are now full. Thanks so much to everyone who bought a square. We thought it would be nice if one of the children could draw this. Jackie and the playgroup team have kindly agreed to do this one day next week. We will annouce the lucky winner by the end of next week. ๐Ÿคž

Have a good day! ๐ŸŽ…
Morning everyone!

Thanks to everyone who has taken a magic square for the Turkey and Trimmings prize. We still have a few squares left for anyone who still needs one. The board has now left Playgroup and is on its travels around Alford. Please look out for it ๐Ÿ‘€

Some people have still to pay but plenty of time. If you can get your pennies either to Faye, myself or one of the playgroup staff by the end of the week that would be great ๐Ÿ‘

We will update again once all squares are sold.

Thanks again! ๐ŸŽ…
๐ŸŽƒ Happy Halloween! The boys and girls enjoyed some games, dancing, party games and food today!
Evening all!

With the festivities fast approaching we thought we would get into the spirit of things and give you the chance to win "Your Christmas Lunch On Us". There is a Magic Square board on the entrance to the Playgroup with 100 squares. The lucky winner will enjoy a Turkey & Trimmings courtesy of Graeme Barber Butcher in Alford.

Its ยฃ2 per square and the winner will be drawn at random when all squares are full. This is an opportunity not to be missed.

The board will be at the Playgroup until the beginning of next week and will then do its rounds amongst the community until its full.

Good luck! ๐Ÿคž๐ŸŽ…

What a lovely day to be down at Haughton Park for a play and a picnic with the children! We also had a special visit from Ali Webber and Bookbug and finished off with some fun races. Thanks to Bearfoot Teepees for our beautiful tent and benches - just perfect for today! โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŽช๐Ÿ…

โ™ป๏ธMany thanks to the boys and girls who came along to open the new Alford Recycling Centre yesterday (unfortunately we werenโ€™t allowed to take everyone along due restrictions). Just in case anyone hadnโ€™t seen this the Quarantine Library can provide both adult and childrenโ€™s books and childrenโ€™s craft packs. Please get in touch with their page if this is of interest to you!

Good morning everyone!

Hope this message reaches you all in good health and good spirits. Excited to announce our Quarantine Library program is now up and running! Donations can be dropped at the vestibule of St. Andrews Church between 9:30 and 4:30 daily. We are collecting children's books, games, puzzles, small toys, and unopened craft supplies as well as adult books and puzzles. This service is run by the food bank volunteers but is for ANYONE in Alford. Contact-free collections can be made from St. Andrews church for anyone able to conduct daily exercise once they've been requested or done via contact free delivery by arrangement. All of our items go through a 3 day quarantine before being available for parcels per virus lifespan guidance so any contents of the bags should be considered effectively virus clean.

The parcels for children are aimed as a wee cheer up for children who are maybe struggling on a particular week missing school friends family etc we can make up a gift bag with some things specific to what they might like and leave it at the church vestibule to be picked up contact free while families are out for daily exercise. It will just be in a gift bag labelled with the child's name so it's like a wee present to collect.

If you have any questions regarding donating or would like to arrange for a parcel to be made please send a message to this page directly.

Look at our fab new playhouse! Many thanks to David Stephen for building this for us!

Just a reminder we are holding a meeting tonight to elect a new committee. We cannot stress enough that without a committee we are unable to run after August. Hope to see as many of you with playgroup aged children (and any interested parties!) in the hall at 7.30pm

[05/30/19]   IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - please share

The current Committee of Alford Playgroup would like to invite anyone who will have a child in the setting (funded or unfunded) during the next academic year to an Information Night on Tuesday 4th June at 7.30pm in Howe Trinity Church Hall.

Alford Playgroup is a registered charity and is run by a Committee usually formed by parents/carers of the children who attend or are due to attend during the academic year. Unfortunately at our recent AGM we were unable to elect a new Committee due to a low turn out.

We are legally obliged by the Charity Regulator to fill the following roles:
- Chairperson (oversees the running of the Committee - sounds a much bigger job than it actually is!)
- Treasurer(s) (this can be split between two people - one to deal with paying wages/submitting timesheets to the payroll company, the other to deal with writing cheques, expenses etc)
Secretary - take minutes at Committee meetings.

Without these roles filled we are legally not allowed to operate and we feel the closure of Playgroup would be to the detriment of the village in general and in particular to the children who are due to come to us over the next year!

(Additional roles such as Ordinary Member and Fundraiser are available but there is no legal obligation to fill these).

The current committee would love to share their experiences with as many parents/carers/grandparents/interested parties as possible and hope that we can secure a new Committee to ensure the Playgroup keeps running as it has for the last 50 years.

If you would like to be involved but canโ€™t make the meeting please feel free to message the page to discuss any involvement.

Lastly - being part of the Committee is not a huge job or time commitment but means that you are part of ensuring that your child gets the most out of attending a setting which is very highly thought of by current and past users.

Over the last two days the children have been releasing the butterflies that they have watched grow from caterpillars! It was very exciting to see them fly away and hopefully lay eggs of their own. ๐Ÿ› -> ๐Ÿฆ‹

The Critter Keeper came to see us at Playgroup today. The children loved seeing the wide variety of animals he had but the favourite was definitely Marshmallow the rabbit!

The Playgroup children helped to raise some funds for Playgroup by participating in a sponsored obstacle course. They have been learning about space so it was tied into that theme. My little astronaut had a great time with his friends and now wonโ€™t take his medal off! Thanks Jackie, Angie and Sheena ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿš€
