Huge thank you to all the staff for everything they have done for both my girls over the last 8 years. I’m so sad that our time at the nursery has ended during this situation and I look forward to being able to visit and say a proper goodbye.
New Nursery class for 2-4 year olds at The Studio, 4 Burnbank St, Coatbridge.
Weds 6-6.30pm. Come along any week🧚‍♀️
Big thanks to Margaret Mary for getting the PJ Masks game. Ben hasnt stopped talking about it. Now that is a real home from home experience x
Would it be possible to get some links to videos, songs, games you play with the children so we can also participate at home? Noah was playing Bear & the Honeypot tonight and said there was a song to go with it but we didn’t know it so couldn’t fully join in. I know you sometimes send lyrics home but we aren’t always sure of the tune. Thanks.
Merry Christmas and a happy New year to all of you!!!
I hope you all have an amazing time!!
Love Gillian and Calvin xx🎅🤶🎄🎁🍾
Thank you so much for the great effort you put into the 2017 graduation ceremony earlier today (26 June). Everything about it spoke of what a lovely, secure environment you have fostered for our little ones and it was so bittersweet to see so many children in their robes and caps taking their first steps towards big school. We can't thank you enough for everything you've done, huge gratitude to the caring, incredible staff ###

We look forward to welcoming you to Stepping Stones when you come to visit!

Welcome to Famly!

‼️Important Information Please Read‼️

In preparation for reopening safely in August 2020, the nursery has subscribed to Famly: an online nursery management system. This will be an excellent communication tool which will allow us to prevent possible viral transmission by reducing communication via paper.
Going forward this will also be a much more environmentally friendly method of communication.
We are in the process of setting this up and will be emailing all parents/carers logins in the near future which will give them access to the online system via an app. For parents who have not already done so, can you please send a blank email to [email protected] so we can ensure we have your current email address.
Please click on the link below to a view a video of how the Famly App will work.
Please feel free to leave us some feedback in the comments.

famly.co Introducing the Famly app. Your child's setting is using Famly. Here's an overview of what that means to you.

[06/27/20]   ‼️Important Information. Please read‼️

Please be assured that we haven’t forgotten about our children leaving this year to go to school and we will be in touch with all of their families prior to the end of term on 31.7.2020. The nursery will remain closed until 10th August to allow us to complete all necessary building adaptations to ensure full compliance with government COVID19 guidance for nurseries.
We have already been in contact with all families with children returning to Discovery Zone in August and will be back in contact as soon as we can regarding NLC’s update which we received at 6.26pm on Friday evening that they will be continuing with the funded 1140 hours from August / September. We would be grateful if children currently based in Explorer Zone (baby room) or Adventure Zone (toddler room) could email us to confirm that they wish their child(ren) to return to nursery when we reopen on 10th August and what sessions they will require.
For our children going to school, nursery to school transition reports have been completed and sent on to all receiving primary schools. We will be organising a contactless collection of the children’s achievement folders, transition reports and graduation photographs (for those children who had photographs taken in March). We also have a surprise to email to parents of the children going to school, if you could please send a blank email to [email protected] to ensure we have your accurate email address. We hope to have all of this organised before the end of July. We are currently in the process of subscribing to an online Nursery Management System, which should allow us to set up a video call to our school children in August so staff and remaining children can have the opportunity to see them in their school uniforms and properly say goodbye. This system will also allow us to communicate with parents regarding all aspects of nursery life via an App. This will allow contactless signing in/ out of nursery, sharing of the children’s learning and development and online access to billing etc.
As you can imagine this global pandemic has presented a very challenging time for everybody and every organisation including Stepping Stones Nursery School. The very strict guidance for the reopening of nurseries was only issued by Scottish Government on 15th June 2020 and the government only confirmed the earliest possible date for reopening on 24th June 2020. Priority has had to be given over to organising for the safe return of our returning children and staff for when we reopen in August. Thank you so much for all the lovely comments and emails we have received about our ongoing work ❤️and a big shout out to Alan Lawson and his teams at Prime Build Solutions, Prime Roof Solutions and MJ Cladding for the super job they are making of our modular playroom and internal refurbishment works. In addition to everything else,
NLC set a very tight admissions window for the 2020/21 funding applications this week, which has had to take precedence over everything else. I’m sure you can appreciate that there is only so much that the one manager who is currently not furloughed can do. As previously advised, we use this Facebook for sharing information but we are unable to respond to comments in a timely manner, therefore we ask that any queries or concerns are emailed to our main email address : [email protected] where they will be responded to as soon as possible. Please stay safe and well and we look forward to seeing all our returning children and families back at nursery in the not too distant future ❤️

North Lanarkshire Council

🟣 Some good news from NLC 🟣

We’re one of the first councils in Scotland to be on track to deliver 1140 hours to all children by September, with some eligible starting in August.

Getting up and running is subject to all settings complying with government rules, so they are safe as possible, appropriate staffing levels being in place and getting cracking on our new-build facilities.

The safety of children and staff is our priority and will be at the heart of our plans.

Key workers can be also be reassured that they will continue to receive 1140 hours in August.

Once all eligible children return to their sessions in August, your nursery, centre or childminder will confirm your increase in hours.

‼️ IMPORTANT INFORMATION ‼️

🔵🟢 Please Read 🟢🔵

The attached letter has been issued today by North Lanarkshire Council for NLC families. We were not consulted regarding the letter and are therefore unable to give clarity on its contents. Parents should therefore contact NLC direct with any queries they may have which are specific to the letter.

Stepping Stones Nursery School awaits the reopening of nurseries guidance which is due to be published by The Scottish Government and Care Inspectorate ‪on 15 June 2020‬ and will use this guidance to plan our reopening scheduled for late July/ August 2020.
Our priority for reopening will be ensuring the safety of our children and staff. We will endeavour to reduce the opportunity for viral transmission as much as we possibly can. In addition to our existing robust nursery hand hygiene, cleaning and infection control policies and procedures, we will need to implement physical distancing measures to achieve this.
Whilst nursery staff will be able to maintain 2 metres social distancing from each other and from parents/carers, it is neither practical or possible for nursery aged children to be expected to maintain 2 metres social distancing from each other or the staff caring for them whilst at nursery. That is why the concept of grouping nursery aged children into small groups/bubbles has been introduced in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bubbles are a way to ensure that the same staff and children stay together in small groups and in doing so, reduce the chance of transmission of COVID-19.
During lockdown children and adults are in a bubble in their home, within their home bubble they don’t need to socially distance from the other members of their household. The concept of a nursery bubble is an extension of the home bubble. In a nursery bubble a group of children and staff are grouped together every time they are in the nursery and their interaction and contact with other bubbles within the nursery is restricted as much as possible.
To enable us to care for our current registered children in small groups/bubbles at Stepping Stones Nursery School, we will be making necessary building adaptations during the closedown period. This includes the installation of an additional modular playroom with its own fully enclosed outdoor play area which will be located in a section of our car park area. We will also be installing room dividers in our large upstairs playroom so that it can be split into 2 separate play areas and therefore accommodate 2 separate bubbles. An additional entry door will be installed at the top of the stairs leading to Discovery Zone so that each of the 2 bubbles will have its own entry point. Additional handwashing sinks will be installed so that both sides of the large room have access to their own handwashing facilities. The Discovery Zone toilets will be shared by both sides of the room, but each bubble will have its own dedicated cubicles and sinks within the toilet. Children from the 2 different bubbles will be unable to enter the toilets at the same time.
The 3rd Discovery Zone bubble will be located in a separate playroom with its own separate toilet facilities. During the lockdown, we have purposefully not enrolled any new children into our Explorer Zone or Adventure Zone playrooms, this has kept the number of children in these rooms low enough to allow each of them to be its own bubble. Each bubble will be cared for by a minimum of 2 dedicated staff. All children who have turned 2 during lockdown will automatically move to Adventure Zone when we reopen and those who have turned 3 will move to one of the 3 Discovery Zone Bubbles.
We are hoping that these plans and building adaptations will allow all of our existing registered children to continue with their usual pattern of attendance when we reopen. But this will of course be subject to ensuring that we will be fully compliant with the guidance due to be issued ‪on 15 June 2020‬. It is anticipated, however that we will need to reduce our opening hours slightly and each room /bubble will have different drop off and pick up times to avoid congestion. Parents will drop off/ pick up their children from outside the nursery building to reduce the number of people entering our premises and thus further reduce possible virus transmission. All playrooms will have their own direct entry doors from outdoors and own dedicated coat storage area. All children will continue to have regular access to outdoor play throughout the day and each room will have its own dedicated outdoor play area and outdoor play resources.
We will be installing an outdoor fully enclosed flushing toilet and handwashing sinks in our front garden so that our older children can spend lots of time outdoors without the need to re-enter the building just to use the toilet. This will of course be thoroughly cleaned after each use.
Parents of children who were in receipt of 1140 hours funding for session 2019/20 or who have applied for the funding for session 2020/21 should be aware that the amount of government funding they receive towards their nursery fees may reduce to the statutory 600 hours. The amount of funding your child receives will be at the discretion of North Lanarkshire Council and is outwith Stepping Stones Nursery School’s control. This does not mean that your child cannot attend Stepping Stones for 1140 hours or their usual days of attendance, it means you would need to pay privately for any hours that are in excess of the funded hours North Lanarkshire Council awards you with. Any questions you have regarding this reduction in funding should be directed to North Lanarkshire Council. Please also be aware that all children attending Stepping Stones must attend for a minimum of 2 full days per week for 50 weeks of the year. This equates to 900 hours per year, therefore additional fees would be payable if your child is only awarded 600 hours of funding . Should you have any questions regarding this communication, please email [email protected] as we are unable to respond to questions via the page.
Meanwhile please stay safe and well and we will update you as the situation continues to evolve.
