After lots of hours of sewing work and lots done by hand. The bears are finished and ready to go to their homes. As much care and attention goes into each individual bear. This is a bear made from something from someone so special it’s not just a bear it’s a comforting reminder of the person it’s in memory of. Lots of little quirky hand stitching interpreting the fabric into tactile things. Photos will follow once they are collected.

Almost there with the bears so much time and love goes into making each and everyone as I know how much they will mean to the bears new owner.

One chair complete. Cleaned the wood right back and linseed oil and beeswax finish has brought it up beautifully. Rich blue velvet fabric.

Busy with traditional upholstery for customers at the moment, not much time for sewing. Stripping the chairs right back. Lots of work but I love what I do .

Working inside in this awful weather stripping back and upholstering two beautiful old chairs. You never know what you’ll find till you start stripping back yuk. Time consuming but very therapeutic

So when you have lots of lovely duchess satin and lace hanging around what better way to use it and have some sewing therapy than to make a wedding dress. Forgot how much I loved making these. If anyone knows someone getting married later this year or next that would love this style and on a budget it’s yours. made to dressmakers dummy small size 10- 12 36-38 bust. 28–31 waist.

so the follow up with my little blog on the bad workmanship and attitude from a local company so called bespoke working tables. thanks to my husband jack and a friend and some hard work by myself we have managed to complete a fantastic work table and bench ready for when I can open and start giving lessons. The bundle of wood against the caravan he charged me £389 for and then another £695 for the labour which was about 4-5 hours. The new bench and tables cost,
x2 desk £20. 25mm ply, yatch varnish I already had and chalk paint for the desk plus x8 wheel castors to go on desk. Total cost £98. Studio couldn't open due to lockdown so I haven't been able to start the business properly so no grants or any help yet hopefully start to get some income coming in soon. Hope you like the finished look I'm so pleased.

GOT LET DOWN BADLY. so I thought I'd do a little story blog of studio progress. As most know due to Covid I was unable to open and start classes and get togethers at the farm studio end of March 2020. I'd worked so hard with jack and my friends getting things ready. For one particular job I thought I would ask a local business to help out. They came in the February lots of ideas, said they understood my needs, kept mentioning the word bespoke, how it would all be made in their workshop and then brought on site to be put together. quality materials used ect, ect, measurements were taken, drawings/sketches done, note of no drilling into floor underfloor heating, my trust was in someone else. Thats where the positive bits now end. Given quote and paid nearly £500 deposit. I knew that it would not be started soon but I waited patiently when they said lockdown. but when small businesses could return and they were well away from the house I still waited, eventually they messaged to come up and I thought they were doing the job, but it was to measure again and they left after 20 minutes, finally in the summer they came up to start the work saying that most people had asked for there deposits back but glad I waited. they didn't have units or pieces of work to put together they just had wood and did all the cutting on the drive or on the studio, things were not looking good so when they finished I said it was reasonably ok but things to finish off first which they said they would do, they didn't return or turn up and then said they didn't say they would, I had paid the balance as I thought that was the thing you had to do when you received the final invoice. Was I being too kind. Short story, the tables didn't fold down, didn't hold the machines when being used, had string holding the leg and drilled 80mm screws into the floor with underfloor heating, they said they forgot, emails and messaging were suddenly excuses and arrogant. Materials as you can see in the photo came to £400 I painted the wood to try and make it look ok. £700 or there about for labour which was hours not days, perhaps I was too kind. I asked for a breakdown in cost but he couldn't do it, this is MDF board joined, my string and screws and some 4x4. refused to give a refund and my husband asked for his insurance details as they had damaged the heating and flooring to which he replied "oh I've had that before " but he wouldnt do it. I'm not used to such arrogance and cheek. My next blog will be putting the damage right I won't trust him again.

Happy new year everyone. Thank you Craig For helping local small businesses and for Abergavenny Market for supporting me too. It’s hard when you can’t work but we know there is light at the end of the tunnel and things will pick up again. It’s not often I get to knit something for myself but when I do I like something a little bit different loving the new colours from my wool here on the farm.
