[07/08/21]   As I'm sure you are aware, England football team have made it through to the UEFA European Championship final to take place this Sunday.

To show our support we are asking the children to come to school tomorrow Friday 9th July dressed in any football kit of their choice or in something red or white.

We are not expecting parents to buy something specific and no money donation is required. This is just a bit of fun for the children. ⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🔴⚪️

[06/24/21]   NON UNIFORM DAY TOMORROW 👕👚👖👗

The children can come to school in their own clothes in exchange for a donation of a ‘bottle’ for the Tombola stall for the Summer Fair.

It can be a bottle of shampoo, sauce, water, alcohol etc. Members of the PTFA will be on the school gates during drop off to collect any bottle donations. We do ask that if the ‘bottle’ you choose to donate is alcoholic, please can it be handled by parents and not the children.

Online Safety Update for Parents

Online Safety Update:
With more than 150 million users worldwide, Roblox is one of the most popular video games of recent times. Roblox allows users to create their own gaming experiences using Roblox Studio: building levels and games then allowing other people to play them. Similarly, players can play each other’s creations, either on their own or with other people online. While it’s a tool that can help foster creative thinking, Roblox is also intermittently in the news amid concerns over young users’ safety.

In the guide, you'll find tips on a number of potential risks such as in-app purchases, online dating and chat functionality.

WhatsApp is the world’s most popular messaging service, with around two billion users exchanging texts, photos, videos and documents, and making voice and video calls. The app offers end-to-end encryption, meaning messages can only be read by the sender and the recipient(s). Not even WhatsApp can read them but as with everything online there is still some amount of risk and precautions you can take to protect yourselves.

Check out this week's guide for more details!

This week's online safety guide addresses 'Gaming Streamers and Influencers'.

Streamers are people who stream themselves gaming, drawing, making things etc. for people to watch on the internet. Usually, this will be done live, and others are able to chat with them in real time while they do so. Influencers are social media stars who hold influence over the people that follow them, like a kind trend-setter or taste-maker, who companies often pay to promote their products. A streamer could also be considered an influencer in their chosen area.

In the guide, you'll find tips on a number of potential risks such as adult content, online bullying and online purchases.

🚨 Parent Pay Communication Just Sent 🚨

“Following the government announcement this evening, unfortunately I need to inform you that as of tomorrow we will be moving to our online learning contingency plan. This means that the school will remain open only for children of Critical Workers and for Vulnerable pupils whilst other pupils access remote learning from home.”

[12/18/20]   The school have just been made aware that Priory Road is completely blocked by a fallen tree.

The police are aware but we don't know how long it will take to clear. We advise those parents affected to come into the village via the Main Totnes Road.

If you are running late please do not worry your children will be kept safe by their teacher.

Many Thanks

[12/17/20]   Just to confirm it's school uniform again tomorrow. We have a lovely day planned for the children to make their last day extra special and to reward them for their outstanding behaviour. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas 🎄🎅🎄

[12/16/20]   It's Christmas Lunch Day tomorrow! Children are welcome to wear a Christmas jumper with their uniform or add a bit of tinsel to their school jumper/cardi. 🎄🎅🌲

[12/10/20]   It's Christmas Jumper Day tomorrow! Please remember to bring in your £1 donation to Save The Children. No need to buy a jumper, a bright coloured jumper, a bit of tinsel or the odd bauble will do! Also just to clarify the bottom half is non school uniform - apologies for any confusion 🌲🎅🎄

Parent Pay | Abbotskerswell

Dear Parents/ Carers

In preparation for the return to school on Monday 7th September, please see below regarding school lunches and after school club.

School lunches
This is a reminder to please book and pay for your child/children's school meals using Parentpay.

We need to know lunch numbers by the end of the Wednesday the previous week of the bookings, so an order for meal items can be placed on Thursday morning with our suppliers.

Please can lunch bookings be booked and paid for on Parentpay by next Wednesday 2nd September. For help on how to use Parentpay please see the links on the web page here: https://www.abbotskerswell-primary.devon.sch.uk/parent-pay. It would be beneficial if you are able to book for the half term up to Thursday 22nd October.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and year 2 receive free meals through the universal free school meal scheme. In addition, you may also qualify under the general free school meals scheme whatever year your child is in and this will mean a 50% cost reduction on clubs and trips along with the free lunch meal which you can choose to receive or not. Please apply via the citizens portal and you will get an instant response on whether you qualify: https://oneonline.devon.gov.uk/CCSCitizenPortal_LIVE/Account/Login?ReturnUrl=%2fCCSCitizenPortal_live. School lunch meals are £2.45 and will initially be a packed lunch service that will rotate daily for variation.

After school club
There will be an after school club for 1 or 2 hours each day that also must be booked online via Parentpay . The 'afternoon' session is for 1 hour at £3.50 and the 'after school' session is for 2 hours £7.00. The cost is reduced by 50% if you are eligible for free school meals or Pupil premium.

The numbers are restricted and is dependent on which day your child's class after school club has been allocated.

Please be advised all bookings must be made prior to the day of request. We will not be able to accept requests for after school club care on the day itself.

The class allocated days are:

Monday and Wednesday - Robin Class

Tuesday and Thursday - Swift Class
