Any one had this enquiry?
Hi all, I wanted to let you know that I am doing one more Independent Hypnobirthing Practitioner Training in 2020.
THIS IS THE LAST COURSE AT THE CURRENT PRICE BEFORE A SIGNIFICANT PRICE INCREASE IN 2021
WHY TRAIN TO BE INDEPENDENT?
Why wouldn't you? You get a thorough, professionally run training course, packed full of resources and ideas to work with clients in a way that suits your current practice. Being independent means you get to put your personality and stamp on the course you produce without simply regurgitating somebody else's message. Most practitioners will start off training with a specific programme and end up evolving what they teach so it feels authentic to them but they are limited as to what they can do because of contracts and teaching resources. With my independent programme, we are simply cutting out the middle man. Plus there are no yearly membership fees or forking out for expensive client packs for every booking you make.

WHY THIS INDEPENDENT TRAINING COURSE?
Its the original independent practitioner training course, written by me an antenatal educator, Hypnobirthing Practitioner and trainer, hypnotherapist and doula of 15 years experience. I have recently written 'Hypnobirthing - Breathing in Short Pants' which is now available on Amazon. Plus, the MamaSerene Independent Hypnobirthing Practitioner Training Programme is the only one to be accredited our very own Kicki Hansard and The BirthBliss Doula training academy. It also has more face to face time than any other training course.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN YOUR COURSE FEE:
5 days face to face training (currently via zoom)
Course manuals including a copy of my book.
Course scripts, teaching resources, handouts and official paperwork which can be re-branded for your own company
Instruction on how to construct hypnobirthing scripts and affirmations to make your interaction with your clients more personal
Direction on building and designing your own course
Online Business module by Sarah Cooke to help make your hypnobirthing business visible and successful
Post course module and teaching assignments
1:1 mentoring and supervision call with me
Membership to a supportive Facebook group with constant interaction
Regular CPD and updates
Access to discounted copies of 'Hypnobirthing - Breathing in Short Pants' for client goody bags, if you choose.
Message me now to book your place or book via https://www.mamaserene.co.uk/practitioner-training/

REMEMBER, DON'T MISS OUT. THIS IS THE LAST COURSE OF 2020 AND THE LAST COURSE AT THE CURRENT PRICE.
is there anymore information on the course with Kerstin Moberg 7-8 november?
Hello lovely BirthBliss Doulas. Hope you are well. I just wanted to share that the Government have partnered with universities to produce free online programmes in digital and numerical skills. There are lots of courses of different levels including social media, digital presence, online presence and presenting with impact.

I thought would share in case you are interested and have not come across it. Here is the link
Hypnobirthing is getting a lot of coverage in the press at the moment because the Duchess of Cambridge stated she used it with all three of here births. If you have been thinking in adding this wonderful technique to your skill set, why not do it with a programme that teaches you how to teach the course in your own way and which doesn't require yearly fees or the purchase of expensive client packs for every booking you make. My next Independent Practitioner training course, accredited by our very own BirthBliss Academy, is in London March 16th - 20th. Conversion courses also available.
Message me fore more details. https://www.mamaserene.co.uk/hypnobirthing-practitioner-training/
So lovely to hang out with Kicki and y'all last night. I name checked a few people and a couple of books...In no particular order...'Me and my Menopausal va**na' by Jane Lewis who tells her own story of Vaginal Atrophy. Kate Codrington who is doing brilliant work around menopause. Maisie Hill and her book Period Power, Alexandra Pope with her Red School. One I didn't mention but is possibly my top fav is 'grow your own HRT' which is all about sprouting, its easy , cheap and equally valuable for all women....feel free to ask any questions that may have come up and look forward to sharing my own book with you next year :-)
Doulas scientifically make a difference - but hearing how women and couples feel having a doula support them is what really matters. 🤗
Hello gorgeous Mamas and Doulas! Have you or any of your clients had an awesome birth experience? I'm looking for natural birth stories for the revised edition of my book, Natural Birth in a Nutshell (very excited that it's out on Amazon on International Women's Day, 8th March!) 😍

I would love to hear from you. If you have a story that you think could uplift and inspire other new mothers to have wonderful birth experiences, hop on over to my group, and share it with us! All stories included will receive a signed copy of the revised edition (out September 2019). 📔

I'm so passionate about getting the message out there that birth can be a calm, quiet, and even ecstatic experience, and having had four babies naturally myself, I have some tips to share! 👶

Join the group, leave your story, join the conversation! ❤️
I'm writing a list of true/false statements for a handout for my couples. I love the myth memes that have been put on here in the past. Can anyone help with some more as I've got writer's block!
Happy to be here iam Cissy midwife from Uganda
are you there? Can't work out how to watch!

You probably already know that everyone is talking about the draft NICE guidance on induction of labour.

You probably also know that there are massive concerns about it.

If you have not acted, today is the day to do so.

The consultation closes tomorrow, July 6.

If you don't know what the issues are, I wrote a whole blog post to summarise them. It's at https://www.sarawickham.com/articles-2/nice-guideline-on-inducing-labour/

This weekend, we've been sharing posts from those who are raising awareness of how the guidance is pathologising Black and Brown bodies. See Abuela Doula and @notson.i.c.e for more on that.

Again, if you haven't responded, today is the day to act. The deadline for comments is tomorrow.

Here's what to do, if you don't know how.

Look at my insta stories for direct links and instructions.

Sign the petition created by @notson.i.c.e at https://www.change.org/p/uk-parliament-stop-the-implementation-of-nice-guidelines-to-induce-black-brown-women-and-birthing-people?

See @abueladoula feed and insta lives for more ideas and instructions.

If you do nothing else, or if the comments form feels too daunting, send NICE an email and tell them what you think, in your own words.

They're at [email protected] and at [email protected]

Please do something to make your voice heard.

Thank you.

The current guidance from the NICE recommends that individuals who request a c-section are offered a referral to a health professional with perinatal mental health expertise to help address anxiety ‘in a supportive manner’.

You are not obliged to accept an offer of support, the guidance states that if after discussion and an offer of support, you continue to request a c-section, it should be offered to you.

I have just finished running a doula course this week and as I sat down to update my website, I realised that adding the 14 doulas that completed the course yesterday, I have now introduced 999 doulas to this beautiful work we do!
.
I'm forever feeling so grateful and lucky to do what I do! The more doulas out there, the more people will hear about the difference we make and the more likelihood of positive perinatal experiences.
.
Next course if fully booked but I've added a virtual course at the beginning of September! Hope to be honoured with the opportunity of starting YOU on your doula journey!

“Since the implementation of screening and prophylaxis guidelines for group B streptococcus (GBS) in the early 1990s there has been considerable advancement in scientific knowledge about the gut microbiome and its role in both health and disease processes.

Research assessing early influences during the development of the infant gut microbiome has advanced considerably in the last 15 years. It is now widely accepted that early introduction of antibiotics in infancy is associated with increased risk for illness later in life.” (Garcia 2021).

This is from a review published in the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health. It looked at antibiotics given to prevent GBS disease and the risks that this poses to babies.

The reviewer found that, “Among va**nally born infants, IAP [antibiotics given in labour to women who are carrying the group B strep bacteria] appears to change the developing microbiome for up to 6 months following exposure. Specifically, IAP alters the microbial counts of the organisms that first colonize the gut, contributing to a decrease in commensal bacteria and a persistence of potentially pathogenic bacteria.” (Garcia 2021)

In other words: the antibiotics given in the hope of preventing GBS disease (which is rare but can be serious) will reduce the number of good bacteria that a baby has, and allow harmful bacteria to flourish.

This confirms the importance of thinking carefully about interventions relating to the screening and prevention of GBS.

Interventions can cause harm as well as good, and the risks and benefits need to be weighed up carefully.

You can see the research study at https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/jmwh.13245

If you’d like more information on GBS, I have an information hub on my website, and I have also written a book on this topic, Group B Strep Explained.

(Look for the edition with the burgundy colour and the signpost on the front – the UK guidelines have significantly changed and more evidence emerged since I wrote the original, which is why I wrote the new edition in 2019).

A worry many have when they start looking into becoming a doula is that they will give the 'wrong advice' or that their clients will be 'disappointed'
.
When you're a doula, you don't give advice, you provide information and sometimes that looks like this.
.
A doula will give options and draw from their own as well as their friends and families experiences.
.
Ultimately though, it's important that our clients choose what is right for them and their baby.

Did you know that while a baby is growing inside a person they are changing too:

⭐ Their blood volume expands by 45-50%
⭐ Their heart is displaced upwards and appears to increase in size by about 12%
⭐ Their total lung capacity decreases and they begin to breathe faster
⭐ Their kidneys increase in length and width
⭐ Their weight increases, due to many changes including: the developing baby, the uterus, amniotic fluid, the placenta and membranes, changes in the breasts, and the increase in blood volume and other fluids
⭐ Their skin, hair, and gums may change

In addition to physical changes, they may experience many emotional, physiological, social, spiritual, and relationship changes during pregnancy. It may be a time where they need extra support, or they may turn inward.

Doulas recognize that every pregnancy is unique.
