The Conversation Break
We offer English classes to adults to improve communication outside of the professional environment through conversational skills and cultural topics.

If you want to speak English well, we need to talk about this. If you know what you want to say, I will tell you how to say it.
Say and Tell and Talk and Speak - TheConversationBreak What a nightmare these words can be. I have often had existential dilemas about teaching after realizing the profound confusion at such a basic level of

How do you express the long passage of time when you return form the holiday break? Madre mía, ¿cuánto tiempo, eh?...but in English, of course. Remember, we are still looking for students to join our Literature Course and we are looking to start C1 Advanced soon!
¿Cuánto tiempo?....a long passage of time - TheConversationBreak Last week I had the first class with a student since before the holidays. We had a late start due to work schedules and, when we finally met, my student
We are celebrating the debut of our second course in our English Literature series! Students from the first course have had a wonderful experience and have been patiently waiting for the next course start. We hope to continue to provide this type of content, so if you have any interest in non-traditional language class please continue to follow us and let us know when you would like to join one of our classes in Plaza Cascorro (if you are looking for us, you won't find us because we are located in the basement of Tr3sDland - humble beginnings).

Still trying to get to one of these events. They look fun! Maybe we'll see you there.

"Funny"? Don't you mean "Fun"? - TheConversationBreak This is maybe the most persistent mistake among students, at least here in Spain. I regularly hear the phrase "My weekend was very funny." I almost always

"Estar" is not the same as "Stay" I have been noticing lately that my Spanish students are always saying "I stayed with colleague" or "We stayed with smiles on our faces", and I have come to realize that this is a difficult corner of language that sounds correct but is probably being used incorrectly. In response to the BBC's list of books that shaped our world, this Modern Library list had more books that I think shaped our world. Again here there are some very obscure books but I think we need to be careful with lists. Sometimes books go out of fashion. Sometimes book that are in fashion are not as important as they are fashionable. You should always compare new lists with old lists. It can be funny sometimes. This list definitely has some important books "The Souls of Black Folks", "The Double Helix", "Silent Spring." You should probably go diving here.

Here is another list of books that you 'should' read. I might have some disagreements about why some of these books shaped our world. We can debate those things freely. I am also not a fan of 'lists' but there are definitely some interesting things to be 'discovered' here.
We are looking for students in our literature class, please contact. If you like you should send us a message and share with others.
The Novels That Shaped Our World: BBC reveals 100-strong list | The Bookseller Novels by authors including Toni Morrison, Sylvia Plath and Salman Rushdie have been recognised by the BBC in a new list of novels chosen by an expert panel that have shaped their world.

We are going to start campaigning for Literature Classes that will start in January. If anyone is interested to start in January. Please send us a message either on facebook or by email [email protected]. Indicate days of the week and times you are available and we will start advertising for the times with most response.

This is not an easy article to read if you don't know the Southern accent because everything Faulkner says is reported in a phonetic manner so you have to read it aloud. But look at the date!He was probably trying to write A Fable at this time. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1953/02/28/doom-hangs-over-william-faulkner?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_social-type=owned&mbid=social_facebook&utm_brand=tny&fbclid=IwAR2hTFhs3iSHAaN_blGP5jP1Uf4tHTbzY1CKFz6lGtxwG9FhreABcuHaeO8

Years ago I went to an exhibition at La Casa Encendida about Starewich, The Brothers Quay, and Svankmajer and discovered another very interesting animation director who created films with fascinating silhouettes. I never could remember her name until I saw this month's programe at Cine Doré. Lotte Reiniger is going to have some of her films shown this Saturday@18:00 and Sunday@20:00. I highly recommend it.
Here is short video about her:
