We are looking to add a MECHANICAL ENGINEER to our team, whose goal will be to ensure the maintenance, upkeep, improvement, and enhancement of the equipment and technological systems used in the company.

JOB DUTIES:
- Planning and implementing the maintenance of equipment and installations
- Performing and/or commissioning diagnostic measurements of equipment and installations and recording the results
- Planning and overseeing factory repair and shutdown work
- Managing various databases used in production
- Planning the need for spare parts and ordering them
- Organizing communication processes related to fire and occupational safety with external partners

The field was established in 2014, following the example of the USA and the UK. The curriculum was developed with contributions from the faculties of engineering and IT, allowing graduates to continue their master's studies in both engineering and IT programs at TalTech, the University of Tartu, or abroad.

The bachelor's program primarily prepares students for master's studies, with main internship and job opportunities at ABB, Ericsson, Milrem Robotics, Starship Robotics, Comodule, Magnetic MRO, and others.

Mechatronics seems relatively similar but focuses on the electrical aspect (power electronics, motors) on the practical side. Industrial Engineering (IE) places greater emphasis on IT and provides a broader foundation for creative full solutions (design, logistics, rapid prototyping). There is also a difference in the teaching staff. The IE program has significantly more international professors and lecturers, who are generally more specialized than their Estonian colleagues and more focused on research.

Additionally, more female students are studying in the IE program and are doing so very successfully (this spring, 38 students graduated from the program, 5 of whom graduated cm laude, and 4 of those cm laude graduates were female; see the attached photo from the diploma ceremony).

In IT studies, there is an issue that generative AI can solve most simple and moderately complex programming tasks, but specialists are needed to teach engineering problems to AI and to evaluate and develop its performance. The IE curriculum is also well-suited for this, as many students find part-time work in robotics or IT companies starting from their second year. For example, Starship robot handlers are students of this field who earn extra money (one handler monitors and teaches the activities of 5 robots).

In IE lectures, in addition to classmates, there are also Erasmus students, many of whom come to TalTech from France, Italy, and Germany. We also encourage IE students to spend a semester abroad, thereby gaining broader horizons and learning experiences. 95% of Estonian companies in the manufacturing industry are export-oriented, so an international network is essential, and friends made at university often remain friends and frequently become business partners for life.

22. märtsil 2024 kell 9–19 toimub Eesti Maaülikooli tehnikamajas (Fr.R.Kreutzwaldi 56, Tartu) 3D tootedisaini võistlus FUSION 360 fännidele ja tehnikahuvilistele.

Võistlusel tuleb igal meeskonnal lahendada praktiline ülesanne, luua 3D mudeli lahendus. Hinnatakse disani ja modelleerimise meisterlikkust Fusion 360 paketiga.

Võistlusel osaleb kokku kuni 10 meeskonda. Soovijad saavad ennast kirja panna koos meeskonnaga või liituda üksi. Viimased leiavad meeskonnakaaslased kohapealt.
Esikolmikule on välja pandud rahalised auhinnad koguväärtuses 2200 eurot!

Registreerumine on avatud kuni 15. märtsini 2024.

Võistlusel osalevate meeskondade suurus on 2-4 liiget. Registreerunud kandidaatidelt ootame meeskonna liikmete tutvustust (haridus, kogemus, tegevusvaldkond). On March 22, 2024, from 9:00 to 19:00, the Estonian University of Life Sciences' Engineering House (Fr. R. Kreutzwaldi 56, Tartu) will host the FUSION 360 competition for fans and enthusiasts of 3D product design.

Each team participating in the competition will have to solve a practical task by creating a 3D model solution. The mastery of design and modeling with the Fusion 360 package will be evaluated.

Up to 10 teams will participate in the competition. Those interested can register either with a team or individually. Individual participants will find teammates on site.

Cash prizes totaling 2200 euros will be awarded to the top three teams!

There are more than 100 scholarships in total of almost 230 000 euros.
Be sure to pay attention when applying. Some criterias have changed:
For each scholarship, write a letter of motivation addressed to that particular company.
When asking for a letter of recommendation, do the preliminary work for the person giving the recommendation - write the body of the completed letter of recommendation (what you have done well, what are your achievements in the last semester(s), what extracurricular activities you participate in). In this way, it is easier for the recommender to write the necessary document and it is more likely to receive a scholarship.
Digitally sign all documents when submitting the application.

Help new students in Taltech – take part in the Buddy programme!
Do you remember the confusion you may have had when you first arrived in Estonia and started your studies at TalTech - finding the right classrooms, understading ÕIS & Moodle? A lot of new information to take in! Now you can help make the adaptation for new students fun and easy! Become a Buddy and help freshmen settle in Estonia and also in TalTech.
Buddies are older course students who want to help new international students. Buddies will help with questions concerning life here in Estonia, studies etc. Both Estonian and foreign students are welcome to apply to join the Buddy programme.
Why become a Buddy?
You will meet interesting people from around the world, and make new friends
You will improve your communication and counselling skills
Great chance to practice your English
Most importantly you can help other students to settle in!

Kas mäletad oma esimest päeva TalTechis? Kas enamik sinu ajast kulus linnakus orienteerumisele ja pusides ÕISis õppeaineid deklareerida? Oleksid tahtnud kellegi käest nõu küsida? Täna võid ise see inimene olla, kes saab rebaseid aidata! Tule tuutoriks, sest aidata on magus!
Tuutor on vanema kursuse tudeng, kes toetab rebaseid eelkõige koolimuredega. Tuutor on justkui tugikeskuseks, kes oskab olla nii hea kuulaja kui ka nõustaja ning vajadusel õigete kontaktide vahendaja.
Tuutoriks olemine annab võimaluse:
arendada suhtlemis- ja nõustamisoskust;
teenida ühe semestri eest 3 EAP-d;
õppida kasulikke nippe TalTechi õppekorraldusest;
arendada esinemisoskust;
olla teiste üliõpilaste jaoks kasulik;
tutvuda uute inimestega.
Tuutoriks saades läbid koolituse, mille eesmärgiks on arendada Sinu kui tuutori kuulamis- ja nõustamisoskusi, teadmisi õppekorraldusest ning avalikust esinemisest. Kuigi tuutorid tegutsevad kogu õppeaasta jooksul, on kõige aktiivsem periood, mil Sinu head nõu vaja läheb, eelnädal (mil viid läbi 2 tuutoritundi) ja september, mil saad uutel tudengitel aidata ülikooliellu sisse elada.

· Täida www.taltech.ee/tuutor lehel tuutori ankeet hiljemalt 3. märtsiks!
· Läbi tuutorite koolitusprogramm ning saadki uusi tudengeid aidata!
