Baltic Academies

Baltic Academies Orchestra (BAO) is a new and innovative educational project initiated by La Nota and embracing the music academies of the three Baltic States: Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music and Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. BAO aims to bridge the gap between education and professional practice, giving high-level students from the Baltic Sea countries new skills and experiences to help prepare them for performing careers. The BAO has its first educational week in Tartu, Estonia, from 2 to 9 February 2018, with programme of rehearsals, mastercalsses and workshops. The orchestra will make a tour through cities of all Baltic States and to Gdansk in Poland and Berlin in Germany, celebrating 100 years of independence of the three Baltic States. BAO will gather under the baton of Kristjan Järvi (EE), Guntis Kuzma (LV) and Modestas Barkauskas (LT) presenting the greatest Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian compositions from past and present as well as worlds classics.

Best teachers meet best students - apply for new orchestra and conducting masterclasses

Highly useful and interesting week in Tartu, Estonia.
From 2 until 9 February 2018 the first Baltic Academies Orchestra week will take place in Tartu, offering laps, coaching, masterclasses, rehearsals and concerts. The basis of the orchestra will be formed by students from the music academies in the Baltic States, but participation is also open to students from other countries. We are looking especially for students from the Baltic Sea area.

For our masterclasses anyone is allowed to apply for participation, from young talents preparing to enter a music academy till just finished students. Participants will be selected based on their application through our website. You can apply for participation in only the orchestra or a masterclass, but also for both.

During this week you will be coached, trained and conducted by international renowned teachers and artists. Participation means developing and showing yourself in an international network, where o.a. coaches from Baltic Sea Youth Philharmonic are present, who will check out participants and select young musicians to a short list. You secretly audition for Baltic Sea Philharmonic, who will call upon the musicians from the short list when needed.

Besides conventional learning you will experience new forms of coaching, training, lectures and new cooperation with others or participation in ad hoc production, which will help your development as an artist as well as personal.
