TalTech University Electrical Machine Group

Electrical Machines Group of Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia, is focused on the design, calculations, optimization and development of electrical machines used in a variety of applications. Key research topics include investigation of novel permanent magnetic materials for use in electrical machines; design and development of permanent magnet generators for wind or small hydro applications; investigation and development of life-cycle based design and optimization methodologies of electrical machines and electric motor drives. Other research activities are concentrated on the diagnostics of electrical machines; field measurements, design and calculations of permanent magnets; calculation, design and estimation of losses in case of different electrical machine types.

one week course (5 ECTS) in Aalto University - Group of Electromechanics this June.

The topic is "Superconductors and their applications in electrical engineering". The lectures will be given by two experts in the field, Dr. Hocine Menana and Dr. Antti Stenvall.

Today, Dr. Ants Kallaste the head of the electrical machine group of TalTech presented the achievements of EMG in 2018 and described the future plans of EMG in 2019 at the Christmas meeting of the Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Mechatronics.
