Yesterday, I had the honour of attending the 40th anniversary of 's first Aboriginal campus, .
It was deeply moving to hear stories that highlight the Eora Centre's vital role in Sydney's history, providing a space and voice for Aboriginal communities for four decades.
This centre is not just an educational facility; it embodies cultural resilience and empowerment. Personally, being part of this community has been incredibly special, enriching my teaching experience and fostering connections that celebrate our shared live for the arts.
Well done to and the crew for putting on an amazing exhibition.
Here’s to many more years of nurturing local Indigenous talent!

Blessed to add this glossy black cockatoo feather to my collection. Atm they visit every sunrise and sunset to feed on the she-oaks in our backyard, which is the Brisbane Waters National Park.

For Audio Theory at TAFE, we were playing with the Echo Fix EF-X2.
Early delay units worked by recording the original sound onto a tape and then playing it back to emulate the echo effect. Some of these machines had multiple play back heads to allow for multiple echoes. By controlling the tape speed, the echoes could be closer together (quick tape speed) or further apart (slow tape speed).
The technique of using tape to create a delay effect was experimented with in the 1950s in art music forms such as Musique Concrète and composers of modern classical like Karlheinz Stockhausen using reel-to-reel tapes to create the effect. Tape echoes became commercially available in the 1950s with units such as Ray Butts' EchoSonic (1952) and Mike Battle's Echoplex (1959).
