Earlier this week I posted a poll about paçoca. Some participants answered they don't know what paçoca is. So let me introduce this traditional Brazilian treat.
Just to make things clear: there is a savory version of paçoca as well. I'm talking about paçoca de amendoim, this one you can see in the picture.
You need just 3 main ingredients to make this delicious sweet:
– unsalted peanuts (2 cups)
– sugar (1 cup)
– a pinch of salt.
The name paçoca is derived from a indigenous Tupi word that means to crumble/to smash. Guess what you have to do? 😉
You don't need to use a mortar and pestle. You can combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor until it looks like "moist sand". Watch out: if you blend too long, you'll get peanut cream. Then, press a small amount of the mixture into a square or round cookie cutter. Unmold carefully and eat it.
An easier way is to buy the ready-made paçoca ( ❤) in a supermarket or store.
Do you find paçoca where you live? Share this tip in the comments.
