Learn emotions and feelings in Spanish!

Here's another great tip to make learning Spanish easier!
One of the best tips I can give you is to make flashcards! Make cards that are small enough to easily carry with you, and write new vocabulary, English on one side, Spanish on the other. Wrap your pack of cards with a rubber band and pop them into your purse or pocket so that you always have them with you. This way, you can take advantage of 'wasted time' standing in line, waiting for a bus, while your restaurant food is prepared, or even while you wait to be seen for an appointment and that wasted time can be turned into productive learning time. Even with just a few minutes, you can use that time to study a few flashcards.

Online, one-on-one classes offer the absolute best option for a solid foundation to learn Spanish. In a classroom situation, students are short-changed because of the number of people in the classroom, and they do not receive the pronunciation and grammar corrections that they need. This is a big problem because, unfortunately, this is how bad speaking habits are formed and then, later on, are so very difficult to correct because they become ingrained. A 1-to-1 class will give you the solid foundation necessary to properly learn the language.

One huge advantage of online classes is that there is no time wasted commuting to the class and back home again. No traffic jams or parking problems to deal with. All you need is the 60 minutes for class and you can take your class relaxing at home, in the office on your lunch break, out in your yard, on a beach, or anywhere you find yourself and in an environment that best suits your studying needs. You really have far more important things to do than sit in traffic jams.

There are many reasons why a busy life like yours might need a flexible schedule to take your Spanish lessons. Work schedules, family obligations, erratic and changing schedules, and other reasons necessitate that one might need flexibility so, by taking Spanish lessons online you can study at your own pace and you can choose when you have lessons. You can also change your scheduled class for another time or even cancel it within 24 hrs. prior to class notice with no charge.

You also have the flexibility and the ability to cancel and reschedule a class in the event that you have a conflict in your schedule. You don't fall behind like you would in a classroom setting where new material is taught and you aren't there.

It’s not always easy to focus in a classroom setting. Sometimes you’re tired. Sometimes people chatter and distract others. Sometimes there’s noise going on right outside the classroom.
Research shows that studying in a loud or noisy environment makes it much more difficult to concentrate. With online classes, it’s much easier to focus on what you’re doing. You can choose to be in the right environment. You can wear headphones if your surroundings are noisy. Your class happens online, in real-time with your teacher, face to face, and with individualized attention, so you stay on topic, and asking questions is so much easier. You can also choose to study at a time when you are at your best, most relaxed, and alert. If you want the best and most optimum learning conditions, online classes are the ideal solution.

1. Read out loud
Spanish pronunciation is easy as each letter of the alphabet has only one pronunciation. A really good tip is to grab a book, magazine, or any news story and read it aloud. You will gain confidence speaking Spanish and also expand your vocabulary.

2. Practice, practice, and then practice some more
The best way to learn Spanish is by simply speaking. Look for opportunities to use your new speaking skills. Strike up conversations with Spanish speakers and use your new skills as often as you can.

3. Add Spanish to your everyday life
Switch your TV, movie, and YouTube time to Spanish. Learn to sing favorite songs in Spanish. Listen to children's books and videos in Spanish. Add Spanish to your life in as many areas as you can.

4. Build a new vocabulary notebook
Add all the new words you are learning in a notebook. Also, add in the most commonly asked questions like 'where do you live?' and 'what do you do?' ...then write in your answers and memorize them so you can easily converse.

5. Stick to one Spanish variety
Decide whether you will learn Spanish from Latin America or the Spanish spoken in Spain. Then only focus on that. Do not mix the two. It only causes confusion.

6. Listen to Interviews and podcasts
Listening to back and forth conversations between people is a great exercise in learning Spanish. Listen in the car, in the gym, while cooking, or doing other chores.

7. Never be embarrassed
Step out confidently to speak Spanish. It's ok to make mistakes, everyone does. Spanish speakers will appreciate your effort to learn their language. Also, be willing to ask others to correct your errors. It's a great help!

Another reason that Spanish is easier to learn than other languages is because of the many words called 'Cognates'...words that look almost exactly the same and also mean the same in Spanish and in English. See the list below for some examples. You probably already know way over 100 words in Spanish! In fact, there are about 20,000 Spanish-English cognates!

Spanish is an easy language to learn because it uses the same alphabet as English and it is a phonetic language which means the words are pronounced exactly the way they are spelled. What you see is what you say, not like English! Just think of the pronunciation nightmare in English with the words ending in 'ough'...dough, through, cough, drought, and ought. Spanish is not like that. The letters always sound the same and the pronunciation is exactly how you see it or write it!

Spanish grammar isn't complicated once you understand the theory. The best way to truly understand it is in your own native language...English! 'Ah, so this is how the sentence structure is set up! I understand that now!' Then, it's time to put that into practice, perfecting the new skill that you just easily learned! Yes, a native speaker is important later on, once you can speak and communicate but for the basics, the foundational's better to have a teacher who can explain to you the HOWS and WHYS of grammar and sentence structure.

Everyday life in Central America is so much easier and your experiences with people will be far richer when you can speak the language and communicate better. Learning Spanish isn't that hard, in fact, it's far easier than you would have imagined.
